Over the weekend I had the chance to visit one on one with the man who fathered me. In his middle 90s. Still going but at a point in his life where the end is not a theory any more.

He said some profound things to me. I don't know why. But we were alone. I was an ear.

He said,

"There are many things I wish I had done. I'm glad I did what I did but if I hadn't and made other choices they would have probably worked out as well. I wish I had done some thing I didn't do. Now as age has crept up, I cannot do them any more and I know that. Do what you want to do and do it while you can."

It was profound because what he said resonated. I had read a study of what people in hospice, people in nursing homes, people at the end of their days say they wish they had done better or different. They do not regret WHAT they did... God takes that on HIMSELF. They regret not having done what they might have. They regret having lived without doing what they thought about doing. They regret being too cautious. They regret taking the safe route in life. Their message to us is, don't back off. Do it now.

There is a person who lives life working with the dying. They report these regrets in order as:

1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
2. I wish I didn't work so hard.
3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

This emotion is exactly what was said to me. We regret what we didn't do, not what we did.

I am challenged by this.

WHAT if we try and fail...are there not regrets?

And what better experience than taking a risk and finding out what it will be like.

3. People bounce back faster than they expect.
Most of us are much more resilient than we realize. Daniel Gilbert, professor of psychology at Harvard, explains that we each have a set-point for how happy we are going to be, and we mostly just stick there. Winning a lot of money doesn’t make us much happier, and losing the ability to walk doesn’t make us much sadder. So it’s fair to conclude that most of us overestimate the impact risk-taking will have on our lives.

4. Don’t make the risk bigger than it needs to be.
For example a lot of people think they need to quit their job to try starting a new company (you don’t) or someone who thinks they need to completely dump one career to try a new career (you don’t.) The best risk takers are in fields like entrepreneurship, hedge fund management, and excavation. The thing these people all have in common – those who are successful in their field – is that they are constantly working to mitigate risk before they take the risk. Sometimes just looking at how someone else has approached your challenge can show you a less risky approach to taking the risk.

5. Most risks turn out fine.
In our minds, that is. Gilbert shows that we are able to reframe a poor decision in order to think it was a good decision. Having kids is his favorite example to use. Having kids makes us less happy, but we invest so much time and money into raising kids, that we’re able to convince ourselves it made us happy, and we don’t have regrets. And successful people who make big career mistakes are able to reframe the mistakes so they don’t matter. Also, inherently positive thinkers don’t usually have regrets over the long-term. I thought this was funny.... although at 66 it's dated for ME



When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways...yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way I was going to lay a bunch of guilt like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of forty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

1) I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

2) There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

3) Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our butts! Nowhere was safe!

4) There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!

5) Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig?

6) We didn't have fancy Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it!

7) There weren't any cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOSH !!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

8) And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

9) We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen.. Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

10) You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were out of luck when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your rear and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?!

11) There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rats!

12) And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!

13) And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. No electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores!

And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were lucky, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place!

See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1970 or any time before!

Where are Jewish liberals in Congress like Barney Frank, Schmuck Schumer, Anthony's Weiner, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, et. al.? AWOL. The camera hogs suddenly can't be found.

The nearest analogy I can come up with is this: President Obama has ordered Jews to the ghettos in preparation for a final, final solution.

NOAH WAS IN THE ARK BUT THE ARK WAS ON THE WATER!!

I have received a word from the Lord YESTERDAY, and have prayed much over it before posting. I know the very IMPORTANCE OF THIS WORD. It is a WARNING WORD of great dimension, BUT IT IS BECOMING TO ME MORE... For I see now some things THROUGH THE LORDS EYES.... THAT I DID NOT SEE BEFORE I WROTE THE WORD. I went and put it on my Web Page, yesterday, and was fixing to post it here but could not... I wondered at the reason and now I know. There was MORE. And the more is wonderful when you see it in Revelation Knowledge.

This word has been A WORD COMING. It has been growing inside me till it came forth. It is like He had to SHOW ME first, and that showing has been a process of receiving. Hope you know what I am saying.... But it has been revealed to me that the STORMS IN THE SOUTH though terrible as they are ARE ONLY A WARNING and this WRNING is in preparation for OUR HEARTS AND LIVES TO CONFORM TO HIM.... HE WANTS US TO MOVE TOWARD HIM AND TRUST HIM.... It came to me that NOAH (though in reality He was saved by the Lord in the Ark) was SAVED BY THE WATER. Because He was LIFTED UP AND OVER THE DESTRUCTION ON THE WATER. The FLOODS in the Mississippi River are destruction. The NOAH FLOOD WAS DESTRUCTION. But the Man and his family (8 soul were saved) were saved in that flood. It destroyed the UNBELIEVERS but it SAVED TO BEGIN AGAN THEM IN THE ARK ON THE WATER. It is so with the FLOOD IN NEW MADRID FAULT LINE AREAS NOW..... The Lord says: "Come up into the ARK OF SAFETY and RIDE WITH ME ABOVE THIS STORM, FOR I AM HERE.... PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!

It has come before me that THE STORMS AS BAD AS THEY ARE WILL SAVE MANY LIVES BECAUSE THE HEART OF PEOPLE ARE HEARING NOW THE WARNINGS....!!!! Yesterday, I had a WONDERFUL THOUGHT.... (I do not have a television and got rid of mine long ago so I can just be with the Lord) the thought was this.... THEY ARE EVACUATING THE FLOOD AREAS NOW... YES, I said, that is a WARNING... People of God HEAR THE LORD! FLEE TO THE ARK FOR THE FLOOD IS COMING.... The door on the Ark was open for 120 years, and still the people did not HEED THE WARNING! They laughed and mocked Noah and his family, but NOAH REMAIMED FAITHFUL. That faithfulness and PURE FAITH IN HIS GOD.... saved Noah and his family WHICH WERE 8 SOULS.... Eight souls!! Do you know what the Number 8 means in the Scripture? It means NEW BEGINNINGS. This will be a NEW BEGINNING FOR MANY WHO HAVE FAITH.

UNLESS UNBELIEVING MEN AND SINFUL CHOICES..... GIVE HIM THE RIGHT TO DO IT.... It is unbelief and sinful choices that KEEP him ALIVE. He has no power EXCEPT WHAT THE CHILD OF GOD (who is delivered from his mighty power IN JESUS and is walking in JESUS' AUTHORITY over him.... ) GIVES HIM!

Now the Lord has been telling us IN HIS WORD that we are RAISED UP TO WALK WITH HIM IN HEAVENLY PLACES. RIGHT?? ( Ephesians 2:6-7) Really, the Son or Daughter of God who KNOWS WHO THEY ARE.... ARE WALKING ON THE DEVIL. HE IS UNDER THEIR FEET. Matter fact you can chase him all over town IF YOU KNOW THAT.... AND HE WILL RUN FROM YOU. But brethren and Sisters, THE CHURCH IN AMERICA has not heard this..... IF THEY DID, THEY DID NOT TAKE IT TO HEART. Now the Lord is telling me to tell you this..... He HAS NO CHOICE IN THIS MATTER. Yes, He has explained to me that HE MUST GIVE MEN HIS CHOICES. He must for DID HE NOT SAY.... CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY...?? If you make a wrong decision (GIVE THE dEVIL A WRONG TOOL.... Most families are barely getting buy. They spend as much as they bring in after taxes and mortgage. They do not make specific cuts in spending deep enough to build up a reserve.

So, they do not prepare storm shelters. They kick the can. They imitate Congress.

Do you need gold coins? Yes. Do you need a back-up plan if you lose your job? Yes. Do you need a network of people who might be able to find you a job? Yes. Do you need a side business? Probably. Do you need skills that can be transferred to a new line of work? Yes. Do you need a plan to make sure you stay on the short list of "must not fire"? Yes.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio wants federal dollars rejected by states to go towards paying down the national debt and not end up being spent somewhere else.

Rubio, a Republican, on Tuesday introduced the Returned Exclusively For Unpaid National Debt or the REFUND Act.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s recently rejected $2.4 billion in federal funds for high-speed rail. The Obama administration has said other states can apply for the money. Rubio says those funds should instead go back to the treasury to pay down the debt.

The legislation, Rubio said, would allow states to have the “best interests at heart” when deciding whether to accept federal dollars “without worrying that the money will be spent elsewhere.”

“It takes a great deal of courage for state officials to take the long view and reject debt-financed federal funds,” he said.

Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell." She's been charged with two felony counts, including a bomb threat.

The controversial collective-bargaining law itself is in limbo, thanks to a restraining order issued in March by a judge in Dane County, where Madison is located. The ludicrous grounds: a claim that Republicans didn't give the public "proper notice" for a March 9 meeting that cleared the way for the bill's passage.

The state Supreme Court has set oral arguments on Walker's appeal of that ruling for June 6.

In a plain bid to wire that court, liberal JoAnne Kloppenburg challenged incumbent Justice David Prosser earlier this year. When she lost, she requested a recount, which thus far has cost state taxpayers nearly a quarter of a million dollars. The recount, which with all but one county reporting hasn't come close to

overturning the result, is to finish May 26.

But even that won't be an end: Kloppenburg has said she'd likely to go court to challenge the election's legality.

Sometimes Optimism is not your friend

That’s why when we listen to Oprah Winfrey’s rags-to-riches story our brain takes note and concludes that we too may become immensely rich and powerful one day; but when told the likelihood of being unemployed is almost 1 in 10 or of suffering from cancer is over 1 in 3 we take no notice.

Such optimistic illusions, with all of their advantages, unfortunately come at a price. Underestimating risk makes us less likely to practice safe sex, save for retirement, buy insurance or undergo medical screenings.

In some cases relatively minor biases can even lead to global disaster. Take the financial crisis of 2008. Each investor, homeowner, banker or economic regulator expected slightly better profits than were realistically warranted. On its own, each bias would not have created huge losses. Yet when combined in one market they produced a giant financial bubble that did just that.

How we got into this mess and how we get out

America is in disarray and our economy is failing us. We have been through the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression, unemployment remains stubbornly high, and talk of a double-dip recession persists.

Americans are not pulling the world economy out of its sluggish state -- if anything we are looking to Asia to drive a recovery.

Median wages have risen only slowly since the 1970s, and this multi-decade stagnation is not yet over. By contrast, the living standards of earlier generations would double every few decades.

The Democratic Party seeks to expand government spending even when the middle class feels squeezed, the public sector doesn’t always perform well, and we have no good plan for paying for forthcoming entitlement spending.

To the extent Republicans have a consistent platform, it consists of unrealistic claims about how tax cuts will raise revenue and stimulate economic growth. The Republicans, when they hold power, are often a bigger fiscal disaster than the Democrats. How did we get into this mess?Imagine a tropical island where the citrus and bananas hang from the trees. Low-hanging literal fruit -- you don’t even have to cook the stuff.

In a figurative sense, the American economy has enjoyed lots of low-hanging fruit since at least the seventeenth century: free land; immigrant labor; and powerful new technologies. Yet during the last forty years, that low-hanging fruit started disappearing and we started pretending it was still there. We have failed to recognize that we are at a technological plateau and the trees are barer than we would like to think. That’s it. That is what has gone wrong.

The problem won’t be solved overnight, but there are reasons to be optimistic. We simply have to recognize the underlying causes of our past prosperity—low hanging fruit—and how we will come upon more of it.
