Why your standard of living keeps drifting away

by Gene Redlin
U.S. workers have been merged into a "global labor pool" where we are expected to directly compete for jobs with people making slave labor wages on the other side of the globe.

The more time you spend thinking about that, the more you start realizing that the standard of living of average American families is going to continue to decline until we are equal to those in Vietnam, India, China, Mexico. Either they will have to come up, or we will go down. This has been going on for 30 years, NAFTA was part of this. I spoke up and wrote of this at that time and said, this is what is happening. Ross Perot was right. A leveling at a much lower standard of living is on the way.

I know enough about macro economics to know that this is inevitable. Yet, there is social engineering and restructuring going on in the name of "Jobs" that is insidious. IF we were just told the truth, that we are going to have to compete on a level playing field, we could and we would. Instead Unions and Public Employees are protected while the rest of the US workforce is pressed further and further into the Global Labor Pool.

a sign of what some analysts are already calling a "post-American Middle East"

Yet America's role could also be greatly diminished in an area that remains vital to its national interests, but where the perception has grown of a superpower with few friends beyond Israel and a coterie of authoritarian Arab rulers.

The Obama administration's initial, tepid response to the crisis, with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton calling Mubarak's regime "stable" and Vice President Biden declaring that he didn't regard Mubarak as a dictator, did little to endear Washington to a region that has long yearned for political reform.

President Obama has since adopted a tougher stance, but his language has not gone far enough to convince Arabs puzzled by America's seeming inability to embrace a revolt that they think coincides with America's own ideals, said Shadi Hamid, director of research at the Brookings Doha Center in Qatar.

"No one in the region is pro-American anymore. The only hope is if Obama uses this opportunity to re-orientate U.S. policy in a fundamental way,'' he said. "Otherwise, I think we're losing the Arab world."

Obama’s Blocking Of New Power Plants Triggers Nationwide Blackouts

From this sad report:
The rolling blackouts now being implemented in Texas and across the country as record cold weather grips the United States are a direct consequence of the Obama administration’s agenda to lay siege to the coal industry, launch a takeover of infrastructure under the contrived global warming scam, and help usher in the post-industrial collapse of America.
............................................

The inability of power companies to meet demand is almost exclusively a consequence of the Obama administration’s publicly stated goal to bankrupt the coal industry and in turn ram through the de-industrialization of America under the guise of the phony global warming mantra.

Even as China and Mexico are allowed to build dozens of new power plants every year, the United States is barely permitted to construct a handful, as the Environmental Protection Agency takes control of refineries and power plants under the completely fraudulent pretext of preventing global warming even as the country experiences some of the coldest weather seen for decades.

Texas has been the epicenter in a battle over the Obama administration’s drive to have the EPA regulate greenhouse gas emissions. Texas is the only state that has refused to implement a permit process.

“Austin said it would not establish such a scheme for greenhouse gas emissions because the US Environmental Protection Agency had no authority to regulate them as of January 2,” reported the Financial Times.

“Twelve other states are mounting a legal challenge to the federal government’s authority but they, unlike Texas, are implementing the new measures while the dispute makes its way through the courts.”

President Obama is about to take a Fall

Pride Goes before a Fall...that's what the Bible says. Proverbs 16:8 "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall".

God HATES those with a Haughty Spirit of Pride: Proverbs 6:17 "God Hates...haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,"

If asked what God hates, most religious believers might simply respond that God hates sin which, according to 1 John 3:4, constitutes breaking God's law. While Bible scriptures indicate that God hates sin in general, there are certain sins which appear to be especially detestable in God's eyes.

Solomon writes in Proverbs 6:16 that there are six things that God hates and seven that are detestable to him. According to Christian belief, what are those sins?

God Hates Pride and Conceit

In Proverbs 6:17, Solomon writes that God hates haughty eyes. Additionally, in Proverbs 16, he says that pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Matthew Henry's commentary on Proverbs suggests that haughtiness, conceit or contempt of others are at the top of the list because they tend to be the root of most sin. The fights to come will test this

God Hates Lying and Falsehood

Solomon lists lying tongues in verse 17 as something else that God hates. God specifies lying as a sin in Leviticus 19:11 and, in John 8:44, Jesus states that Satan is the father of lies and that there is no truth in him. Matthew Henry asserts that, next to haughtiness, lying is the next greatest abomination to God and man because nothing is more sacred than the truth and that truth is necessary in every conversation.

God Hates the Shedding of Innocent Blood

According to the Bible, violence resulting in an innocent's bloodshed is next on the list of things that God hates. The Sixth Commandment in Exodus 20:13 specifically condemns murder. Referring back to the passage in John 8:44, Jesus also identified Satan as a "murderer from the beginning."

Aside from the wounding or taking of innocent life, Henry comments that those who murder are only serving Satan and carrying his image in their hearts.

God Hates Wicked, Scheming Hearts

Hearts that devise wicked schemes are listed in Proverbs 6:18 as a sin God hates. While lying might be a spur of the moment occurrence, scheming, plotting, or developing a subversive plan or plot involves premeditation.

In his commentary, Matthew Henry notes that this sin involves a heart that designs and a head that devises wicked imaginations.

God Hates the Pursuit of Evil

Verse 18 also lists an abhorrence by God of those who rush in to evil. Genesis 6:5 states that God's heart was filled with pain because the hearts of all of mankind was focused on doing evil all of the time. God's answer to that was to flood the earth to wipe out such evil.

Henry writes that the speed and impatience in which some people pursue greed or evil should be shameful to all of those who desire to follow God. It's said that Jesus himself taught that everyone who commits evil hates the light, which is God's word according to John 3:20. Paul also informed the church that love does not delight in evil (1 Corinthians 13:6).

God Hates False Testimony

False testimony is listed in verse 19 as something that God hates. The Ninth Commandment warned Israel not to give false testimony against a neighbor (Exodus 20:16) and John the Baptist, in Luke 3:14, urges people to avoid falsely accusing others.

In Henry's commentary on Proverbs, he states that there is not a greater offense to God nor a greater injury to another person than to knowingly give false testimony or evidence against someone.

God Hates Dissension and Conflicts

In verse 19, dissension is the last action in the list of sins that God hates. In Proverbs 6:12-15, Solomon writes that a man who plots evil and stirs up dissension will encounter disaster and be destroyed. In his epistle to the Galatians, the apostle Paul echoed Solomon's words by writing that those who engage in conflicts and sow discord will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Matthew Henry comments that the peace and love of God is in direct contrast to those who sow discord and create contention among their brothers and fellow man.

Summary of Seven Things That God Hates

While religious people generally believe that God hates sin, the sins of pride, lying, killing of innocent people, scheming hearts, pursuing evil, false testimony and those who stir up trouble are particularly abhorrent to God. Paul also warned the Galatians to avoid being conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Instead of engaging in such sins that God hates, Paul encouraged them, instead, to concentrate on the fruits of the spirit of God which he listed as love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-26).
IF God still hates all these things and if those things lead to a fall....then President Obama is headed for a fall.

A Challenge to Create Jobs - Undercover Entrepreneurs

News Story:
President Barack Obama named Jeffrey Immelt, General Electric Co.’s chief executive officer, to head his outside panel of economic advisers, replacing former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker. He said Immelt “understands what it takes for America to compete in the global economy.”

The other members are:
Robert Wolf, head of UBS AG’s Americas unit, Jim Owens, former chairman of Caterpillar Inc., and Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO labor union federation.

THE CHALLENGE:

These Four Men should be forced to form small companies without any money from anyone other than a credit card with a credit limit of $50,000. They must start, operate and finish a year with a profit and have 5 legal employees. No trading stocks, financial management, or help from anyone. In fact it should be an "Undercover Boss" kind of event.

I am convinced NONE of them are capable of founding and operating a company in the USA successfully hiring people and the whole thing. I don't care what they do, mow lawns, paint houses, build boat docks, raise pidgeons. It doesn't matter.

BUT if at the end of a year:
1. They don't have 5 full time employees
2. They can't pay on the 50 grand Credit Card
3. They aren't breaking even or profitable

THEN, they should be shown for the empty suits they are. I am convinced NONE of these so called Economic Advisers knows a thing about small business.

Yet this is what we in the small business community must do every day and we do it with no help at all.

Sometimes without even a line of credit.

I wish they would be forced to put their money where their mouth is.

Home Ownership—Nearly 11 Percent of US Houses Empty - CNBC

I usually find the quarterly homeowner vacancy and homeownership report from Census pretty lackluster, but the latest one released this morning was anything but.
Strawberry Mill Valley

America's home ownership rate, after holding steady for a while, took a pretty big plunge in Q4, from 66.9 percent to 66.5 percent. That's down from the 2004 peak of 69.2 percent and the lowest level since 1998.

Homeownership is falling at an alarming pace, despite the fact that home prices have fallen, affordability is much improved and inventories of new and existing homes are still running quite high.

Bargains abound, but few are interested or eligible to take advantage.

We are in for ONE HUGE MOMMA OF A BLIZZARD

From this report

A winter blizzard is heading this way and it could compare to the worst storms in recent history, including those in January 1967 and January 1999.

“We’re going to be measuring total snowfall in feet,” said Ed Fenelon, meteorologist for the National Weather Service, Chicago office. The worse conditions are expected from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m., Wednesday, he said.

“Snowfall will be heavy and at times visibility will be less than 100 feet. We’re expecting 2 to 3 inches per hour at the height of the storm. That rate is tremendous,” Fenelon said. The quickly accumulating snow will make it difficult for snowplows to keep up with the storm.

High winds are expected to exacerbate the problem conditions.

“Winds could be gusting at 40 miles per hour or over and drifts can add up to as high as 3 or 4 feet,” Fenelon said.

Fenelon said this storm could compare to the infamous Chicago blizzard that occurred Jan. 26 to 27, 1967, and resulted in an accumulation of 23 inches. That storm was accompanied by blowing and drifting snow. In more recent history, a storm dumped 21.6 inches, reported at O’Hare Airport, between Jan. 1 and 3, 1999.

Obama and the Ripple Effect

When it comes to U.S. policy vis a vis Egypt, especially during this highly fluid period, it can be argued that Mubarak doesn't deserve much sympathy after 29 years of iron rule. But an American president, when wading into such turbulent and unpredictable waters, ought to know at least all the ramifications of his own strategy -- something Obama doesn't seem to have thought through.

Watching Obama, Hamas must be licking its chops, while the Saudis and Abbas must be wondering how constant, reliable and predictable a Mideast player the U.S. really is with Obama in the White House.

DR. KEITH ABLOW: A Psychiatrist's Advice for President Obama

President Obama’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday night symbolically kicked off the 2012 Presidential campaign.

So, here’s what I heard Tuesday night: I heard a man reading a script, acting out a part. The words the President spoke about reducing our national debt, reining in the size of government and working collaboratively with both Republicans and Democrats sounded—to my third ear—like the words of an alcoholic who tells me that he won’t drink, that I should just believe him, even though that he can’t share any compelling insight (let alone a true moment of epiphany) as to why he started anesthetizing himself with booze to begin with, nor any compelling narrative as to why he now believes he has to be sober to walk the path ahead. In short, he sounded like a man with new words, but without the new perspective that would make them his own, and, thereby, make them either credible or moving.

Failure Is Not An Event, But An Opinion.

Failure doesn't mean - "You are a failure,"
It means - You have not succeeded.

Failure doesn't mean - "You accomplished nothing,"
It means - You have learned something.

Failure doesn't mean - "You have been a fool,"
It means - You had a lot of faith.

Failure doesn't mean - "You don't have it,"
It means - You were willing to try.

Failure doesn't mean - "You are inferior,"
It means - You are not perfect.

Failure doesn't mean - "You've wasted your life,"
It means - You have a reason to start afresh.

Failure doesn't mean - "You should give up,"
It means - "You must try harder.

Failure doesn't mean - "You'll never make it,"
It means - It will take a little longer.
