25 Ways to Communicate Respect for your Husband

Here are 25 ways you can communicate respect to your spouse without uttering a word. If you’ll make it your habit to do these things, the next time you tell your husband how much you respect him, he won’t have to wonder if you really mean it.
  1. Choose Joy
It’s true: A happy wife makes a happy life. Please don’t use moodiness as an attempt to manipulate your man, but in all things rejoice, because that’s the right thing to do. (1 Thessaonians 5:16; Philippians 4:4)
  2. Honor His Wishes
Give weight to what your husband thinks is important. Make those things a priority that matter most to him, whether it’s having dinner ready when he gets home from work or keeping the house tidy or limiting computer time. Don’t make him ask twice. (Philippians 2:4)
  3. Give Him Your Undivided Attention
Yes, I know that women are masters of multi-tasking, but when your husband is speaking to you, make a point to lay other tasks aside, look into his eyes, and listen to what he is saying with the goal of understanding and remembering his words.
  4. Don’t Interrupt
Have you ever been around a person who won’t let you finish a sentence? That gets old fast. Even if you think you already know what your husband is going to say, allowing him to say it without cutting him off mid-sentence shows both respect and common courtesy.
  5. Emphasize His Good Points
Sure, he has his faults (as do you), but dwelling on them will only make you (both) miserable. Choose instead to focus on those qualities in your husband that you most admire. (Philippians 4:8)
  6. Pray for Him
Ruth Graham advises wives to “tell your mate the positive, and tell God the negative.” Take your concerns to God. Faithfully lift up your husband in prayer every day, and you will likely notice a transformation not only in him, but in yourself, as well. (Philipians 4:6-7; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
  7. Don’t Nag
Your husband is a grown man, so don’t treat him like a two-year-old. Leave room for God to work. You are not the Holy Spirit, so do not try to do His job.
  8. Be Thankful
Cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Don’t take your husband for granted. Be appreciative for everything he does for you, whether big or small. Always say thank you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18; Ephesians 5:20

I must post the truth about Jesse Jackson.

I knew this. I was there, not physically, but involved. I remember this controversy in the community. I remember the quiet outrage at Jesse. I remember how many among us at that time thought he was a shyster and still do. Yet, it was a time when the south side of Chicago was burning, there was hurt and pain, we didn't need more. So we stayed silent. Now it's time for the truth to come out on what a liar he really is. He has done much damage to the community by his deceptions. I didn't write this, but its true. If you are under 65 this is history to you. If you are over, this is memory:

"" For most Americans, Jesse Jackson first popped into view immediately following the sniper assassination of the Reverend Martin Luther King on April 4, 1968.

The very next day Jackson was on NBC’s Today show telling the world that King had “died in my arms” on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. He graphically detailed how he alone had cradled the Reverend King’s head and was “the last person on Earth” to hear King’s dying words. To ratchet up the emotional temperature, Mr. Jackson appeared on camera sporting a stained turtleneck sweater that he assured the world was drenched in the blood of Doctor King. It was gripping television.

Jackson repeated this story at a Chicago City Council commemoration of King later that day and again four days after that in the Chicago Defender and also in more than a hundred more news articles over the following seven years. It was all a load of crap. Mr. Jackson fabricated every bit of this false history, right down to the bogus blood-stained photo-op-prop turtleneck sweater.

White liberals just “knew” that Jackson was the “fiery heir apparent to Martin Luther King” because no less an intellectual luminary than Hugh Hefner had vouched for Jackson using those exact words in a Playboy magazine interview (Nov, 1969). Playboy assured all liberals that “The Reverend Jackson’s first national exposure came as a result of his closeness to Dr. King. He was talking to King on the porch of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis when the fatal shot was fired, and cradled the dying man in his arms.”

Hefner needed better fact checkers; so did Time magazine, which repeated this whopper as a cover story in its April 6, 1970 issue. Jackson’s preposterous self promotion was finally blown apart in 1975 when black reporter Barbara Reynolds made the effort to interview members of Reverend King’s inner circle.

Speaking bluntly, Hosea Williams, a close associate of King who was present when the sniper struck, declared: “The only person who cradled Dr. King was [the Reverend Ralph] Abernathy.” He added, “It’s a helluva thing to capitalize on a man’s death, especially one you professed to love.”

The Reverend Ralph Abernathy remarked, “I am sure Reverend Jackson would not say to me that he cradled Dr. King. I am sure that Reverend Jackson would realize that I was the person who was on the balcony with Dr. King and did not leave his side until he was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Memphis. I am sure that he would not say to me that he even came near Dr. King after Doc was shot.”

Here’s the truth: When the shot was fired Jackson was schmoozing with Chicago musician Ben Branch in the motel courtyard. Mr. Branch later reflected, “My guess is that Jesse smeared the blood on his shirt after getting it off the balcony. But who knows where he got it from? All I can say is that Jesse didn’t touch him.” An eye witness reported that Jackson hid behind the motel swimming pool after the shot was fired.

The first persons to reach the wounded civil rights leader were Andrew Young and an unidentified white man who gave assistance. They were joined almost immediately by Ralph Abernathy.

For many years Jesse Jackson would point to a photograph of himself in the company of Dr. King and the Reverend Abernathy on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel as evidence that he was with King at his death. In truth, that photo had been taken a day earlier, not moments before King’s fatal injury, as Jackson falsely claimed. Photographs that were taken seconds after the rifle shot do not include Jesse Jackson.

When an ambulance arrived, it was Andrew Young and Ralph Abernathy who went with King to the hospital. Only when the news crews from ABC, NBC and CBS arrived at the motel did Jackson come out of hiding and begin spouting lies about how he was the last person to whom King spoke. Hosea Williams recalls: “I was in my room. I looked out and saw Jesse talking to these TV people. I came out to hear what was being said. I heard Jesse say, ‘Yes, I was the last man in the world King spoke to.’”

Upon hearing this outrageous lie, Mr. Williams jumped a railing and dashed toward Jackson. He was restrained by a police officer. “I called Jesse a dirty, stinking, lying so-and-so . . .”

The Jackson mythology deepened when reporters began referring to Mr. Jackson as Reverend Jackson, when, in fact, he was no such thing. Jackson was a seminary school dropout. He attended the Chicago Theological Seminary for a scant six months and then dropped out. He failed a required course in sermon composition and oration. Jackson failed to complete even a required minimum of three one-hour classes a week. In 1967, Jackson was put on the school’s “reserve” list because it was evident that he would not graduate. So, Mister Jackson was not a reverend in 1968; he simply awarded himself that title to promote himself in an occupation that was rife with clergymen: civil rights activism.

The Chicago Theological Seminary didn’t award Jackson a divinity degree until June of 2000, by which time the school’s board of trustees included the influential Democrat congressman from Chicago, Jesse Jackson, Junior. To “earn” his diploma, Jesse Jackson the Elder spent a relaxed hour answering a few questions posed to him by an admittedly awestruck young woman.

Navigation thru the stupid times

The best and cheapest thing you can do if you are a young person who didn't sign up for Obamacare is, buy a catastrophic health care policy with a huge deductible. Yes they are still available. $5000 deductible is about right. It isn't very expensive. Then pay the fine, for most people it will be about a hundred bucks a year. You will be covered for catastrophe and yes it still costs you more, you are out of the goofiness, It isn't going to work anyway and you don't want to be part of the big collapse, depending on the fiction that Obamacare is. Here is a bit more: http://cdn.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/12/25/Top-8-Ways-To-Opt-Out-Of-ObamaCare

Run for you lives

I guess those in our government who believer communism is the answer were asleep from 1959-1989. Today people are running across the open fields to escape the Obamacare nightmare being shot at just as they did during the Berlin Wall days... no casualties.. yet.

Bad Eschatology is like the DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS and will result in the day AFTER Christmas

I have been reading about the end of the world for 40 years.  In 1970 Hal Lindsey published the book "The Late Great Planet Earth".  I read it a couple years after it came out.  It scared the hell out of me... I mean that literally.  Pretty certain that things were going to collapse, come to an end, tribulation, wars, antichrist, beast, mark, rapture.... really a horror show.

It affected me.  It's not why I got saved, I got saved because I was lost in this life.

If you were alive then and remember the book..it affected you too.  But it's probably NOT why you came to Jesus.  In fact most of the people scared by end times things make pretty short term shallow converts.

A spirit was released at that time that had a profound negative impact on the nation, the church, the community in our nation and has manifested in the rise of skeptic rooted atheism we see today.

Much of the frankly foolish parsing of news events twisted into fitting some scriptural paradigm of prophetic meaning based on Ezekiel, Daniel, Matthew 24 and Revelation has been going on in churches and books since that time.  Even the popular website, Rapture Ready has become a parody of itself by defining the failed attempts to predict the end of the world, the rapture, the tribulation etc ad infinitum.

I have seen an read accounts of how events in Israel, Russia, Europe and the Conflicts in Arab countries are a clear indicator of the end of the world.  The coming of the Lord.  The one that jolted me into reality regarding these things was one such account .... published in 1895.   It took events around that time and structured them into a tapestry that predicted the coming of the Lord with great confidence.

You can still find those books in Christian bookstores... written about events going on right now.  Websites are up and running, some very well intentioned that take current events and use them to warn people to expect the skies to part.

If anyone should question these things they are buffeted with all kinds of Bible Bullets that define people as scoffers who question IF such things make any sense at all.  If your expectation of Jesus revelation to you is dependant on what you see on TV or hear on the radio surrounding events in the middle east, you are being duped.

What is worse, is you are being poisoned against living your life in the Presence of Jesus.  You don't see him active and present in your life.  Unbelievers around you think you are crazy.  They read these books too and the devil has used them as an inoculation against the TRUTH of the Gospel. It's actually a clever scheme.  End times fantasy has crippled evangelism in our world.   When people should be invited into a Life WITH Christ here and now, they are told of some time in the future when if they measure up somehow (don't miss the rapture) they will be able to spend real quality time with him.  Kind of a spiritual Billy Joel song, "Cat's in the Cradle".  We'll have a real good time then...

On this day after Christmas I am more aware of how anticipation can be a trap.  How hoping for a future event kills the joy in the moment.  How on this day there is a let down.  That's what finding all this out is for many, a jolt into reality they didn't know they wanted until they got there.  They loved that day before Christmas feeling that futuristic prophetic interpretation gives them.  There is also a one upmanship about it all.  Kind of like the contest level yard displays I see in some neighborhoods.  It's like we decorate out theology with more and brighter outlandish claims of this or that fresh revelation of the coming of the Lord.  I will offend some, but the Harbinger was the last one such.

Jesus on the sermon on the mount tried hard to get his followers to understand that living here and now WITH HIM was supposed to be the chief goal of man.  Somehow that got all mixed up into causing people to think we should wait for some future event.  It only causes disappointment.  Like the day after Christmas.

The divisiveness that has been manifested by all this vain speculation (at least that's what the Bible calls such foolishness) divides the body of Christ into pre trib, mid trib, post trib, no trib, millennial, amillennial and a dozen other such iterations.  Anything that focuses on some future event is excuse enough for not living what we should here and now in the presence of the True and Living God, the Creator of all the Universe, King of Kings, True God here and now among us.

Darby and Scolfield were wrong... and they know it now.  They made heaven, but really know the truth.  If they could come back (they can't) they would say STOP... we were wrong.

Godless sects have risen up from this false teaching.  Jehovah's Witness is one such.  They have been predicting from Watchtower as a publication for instance, the end of the world over and over and over again.  They came out of William Miller's preaching about the end times in the middle of the 1800s.  Now they devolved into a cult of lost people who no longer believe Jesus is God.  That's where this error filled teaching will lead you... to apostasy.

I enjoy having a Jehovah's witness team come to my door. I seldom argue the business about Jesus as God... I start to talk to them about the Presence of the God here and now, His love for them, His action right here and now in their lives, how they can SEE HIM, experience Him, Know Him.  Then I gently tell them of the Power of the Holy Spirit and the Presence of Jesus (There's the rebuttal to True God for them) and how wonderful it can be to know Him in that way.  More than once a Jehovah's Witness has left my house in tears shaken by the reality of the Presence of Jesus.  They came to witness (a verb) I was simply a Witness (a noun).  That is the difference and we can't be that if we are living in fear or anticipation of an event that will never come to pass.

The problem with all flawed and error filled theology, Jehovah's witnesses and the whole end times machine (Much of it money driven) is they say "It's not Biblical" to NOT believe as we do.  So they fire the Bible bullets and hope you are hit.  What they think are Bible Bullets are in fact fiery darts.

When I see Jack Van Impe on TV it saddens me.  He has been doing this dance for decades and is more confused today than he was in the 80s.  He knows the Bible cold and can stretch and twist events to fit scripture and the other way around week after week after week.

The last thing that impacted me to turn the light on was the historicity of the Bible.  I decided to try to prove that many of the things mentioned in Ezekiel,  Matthew and Revelation haven't happened yet so they must be unfulfilled prophecy.  I failed in my quest.  They all proved to have been rooted in historical events. I will ask readers to do their own work.  It will tear you up for a while as you discover how far afield you have gone under the influence of false teaching.  The Bible is true.  It all happened. There are however occasions when history does repeat... knowing which is which is all the trick... just don't be deceived by the devil's scheme.

IF the light comes on for you.... freedom will be the result.  Joy, Peace, Patience.  In fact, I don't believe it is possible to live in the fullness of the fruit of the spirit without proper understanding in these areas.  I hope you find it.. I'll see you in Heaven in any case and then you'll stand with Scofield and say, I was wrong.

The top seven global warming alarmist setbacks in 2013

Hold your champagne glasses high this holiday season, because the end of 2013 marks the 17th year without global warming. This year has been trying for climate scientists and environmentalists who have been trying hard to explain away the 17-year hiatus in global warming and link "extreme weather" to rising greenhouse gas emissions - despite strong evidence to the contrary.

There has been a breakdown in the manmade global warming consensus, and some even argue we are headed for an ice age. In honor of the 17th year without global warming, The Daily Caller News Foundation has put together seven setbacks for global warming alarmism.

1) Studies show that the world was warmer than it is today during the Roman Empire and when the Vikings were plundering Europe and North America. In fact, even in the 19th Century, there were discussions surrounding the fact that the Vikings could settle the northernmost reaches of Greenland and North America because there was less ice coverage.

2) During the second week in December, the U.S. saw more than 2000 record low temperatures and record snowfalls, according to the National Weather Service and HamWeather records center. There were 606 record low temperatures, 1,234 low maximum temperatures and 285 record snowfalls across the country. In the meantime there were only 98 high temperature records and 141 high minimum temperature records.

3) Satellite data shows that the polar bears have at least one reason to be happy this year - Arctic sea ice coverage was up 50 percent over last year's record low coverage. Contrary to Al Gore's prediction that there would be no polar ice cap by this year, sea ice coverage spanned nearly 2,100 cubic miles by the end of this year's melting season, up from about 1,400 cubic last year.

4) Global cooling is on the way, according to an increasing number of scientists. German scientists have predicted that based on declining sunspot activity and natural climate oscillation the world will cool over the next century. Temperatures will eventually drop to levels corresponding with the "little ice age" of 1870.

5) Other scientists have also been coming around to the global cooling side of things. The BBC reported that Professor Mike Lockwood of the Reading University predicts that at the current rate of decline in solar activity, another "Little Ice Age" could envelope Northern Europe.

6) The United Nations climate bureaucracy's latest global warming report was called "hilarious" by a leading scientist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Richard Lindzen said the UN's report "has truly sunk to level of hilarious incoherence" because they continue to proclaim with ever greater certainty that mankind is causing global warming, despite their models continually being wrong. "Their excuse for the absence of warming over the past 17 years is that the heat is hiding in the deep ocean," Lindzen said. "However, this is simply an admission that the models fail to simulate the exchanges of heat between the surface layers and the deeper oceans."

7) The Senate testimony of Dr. Roger Pielke of the University of Colorado completely undercut environmentalists and Democrats trying to claim that global warming was causing "extreme weather." "It is misleading and just plain incorrect to claim that disasters associated with hurricanes, tornadoes, floods or droughts have increased on climate timescales either in the United States or globally," Pielke said. "It is further incorrect to associate the increasing costs of disasters with the emission of greenhouse gases."

The other witnesses on the panel did not refute Pielke's data.

How I Wish the Homosexuality Debate Would Go

Piers-Morgan-cnn-debut-007-300x180Just once, I’d like to see a TV interview go more like this:
Host: You are a Christian pastor, and you say you believe the Bible, which means you are supposed to love all people.
Pastor: That’s right.
Host: But it appears to me that you and your church take a rather unloving position when it comes to gay people. Are homosexuals welcome to come to your church?
Pastor: Of course. We believe that the gospel is a message relevant for every person on the planet, and we want everyone to hear the gospel and find salvation in Jesus Christ. So at our church, our arms are outstretched to people from every background, every race, every ethnicity and culture. We’re a place for all kinds of sinners and people with all kinds of problems.
Host: But you said there, “We’re a place for sinners.” So you do believe that homosexuality is sinful, right?
Pastor: Yes, I do.
Host: So how do you reconcile the command to love all people with a position on homosexuality that some would say is radically intolerant?

Via Email

Sharing a big thank you from Author Unknown:

"As we progress into 2014, I want to thank you for your educational e-mails over the past year.

I am totally screwed up now and have little chance of recovery. I can no longer open a bathroom door without using a paper towel, nor let the waitress put lemon slices in my ice water without worrying about the bacteria on the lemon peel.

I can't sit down on a hotel bedspread because I can only imagine what has happened on it since it was last washed.

I have trouble shaking hands with someone who has been driving because the number one pastime while driving alone is picking one's nose.

Eating a little snack sends me on a guilt trip because I can only imagine how many gallons of trans fats I have consumed over the years.

I can't touch any woman's handbag for fear she has placed it on the floor of a public toilet.

I must send my special thanks for the email about rat poo in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet sponge with every envelope that needs sealing. ALSO, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.

I can't have a drink in a bar because I fear I'll wake up in a bathtub full of ice with my kidneys gone.

I can't eat at KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes, feet or feathers.

I can't use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.

Thanks to you I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.

Because of your concern, I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains.

I no longer buy fuel without taking someone along to watch the car, so a serial killer doesn't crawl in my back seat when I'm filling up.

I no longer use Cling Wrap in the microwave because it causes seven different types of cancer.

And thanks for letting me know I can't boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face, disfiguring me for life.

I no longer go to the cinema because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS when I sit down.

I no longer go to shopping centers because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me..

And I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a huge phone bill with calls to Jamaica , Uganda , Singapore and Uzbekistan ..

Thanks to you I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big black snake could be lurking under the seat and cause me instant death when it bites my butt.

And thanks to your great advice I can't ever pick up a dime coin dropped in the car park because it was probably placed there by a sex molester waiting to grab me as I bend over.

I can't do any gardening because I'm afraid I'll get bitten by the Violin Spider and my hand will fall off.

If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon, and the fleas from 120 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump.

I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's best friend's beautician!

Oh, and by the way... A German scientist from Argentina , after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with insufficient brain activity read their e-mails with their hand on the mouse. Don't bother taking it off now, it's too late.

Bipartisain Christmas Wish

TO ALL MY DEMOCRAT FRIENDS:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2014, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great.

Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere.

Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wisher.

TO ALL MY REPUBLICAN FRIENDS:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ 2014.

Hope In The Holiday Season December 24, 2013 by Jon Rappoport

Hope In The Holiday Season
PHOTOS.COM
Untold millions (billions?) of people across the world are waking up to official lies, cover stories and conspiracies.
These people are crossing the bridge, so to speak, to see what’s on the other side.
The question is, do they stay there once they’ve crossed over, or do they try to retreat back to their former positions as ordinary citizens with dimmed perception?
It’s quite a trick to a) maintain the status of “normal person” while b) seeing through the enormous ruse.
In fact, in the long run, it’s impossible.
Therefore, the retreat backward involves self-induced mind control. In other words, the enlightened person un-enlightens himself. He re-educates himself to accept all the lies he saw through.
He “rejoins the church” he once quit. And he does so with a fervor.
Not long ago, I spoke with a college professor who detailed that journey: “About 10 years into my career as a teacher, I became aware that I was educating my students into a whole series of official stories that were egregiously false. So I began to expose the lies in my classroom.
“This led to a clash with officials at my school. I realized my neck was on the line. I had to make a choice.
“I decided to survive. I went back to accepting what I knew was false. The process by which I did this was… you could call it self-administered brainwashing.
“I’m certainly not proud of it. But that’s what I did.”
The teacher went on to tell me he knew a number of other professors at various colleges who’d done the same thing. They weren’t proud of it, either, but they’d made their bed.
In our society, our culture, the pendulum is swinging back and forth. People are discovering truth, and then they are denying its implications.
In some cases, these people work for companies they know are part of the problem. Others work for government agencies. Others are in the military or the police. They’re caught in the middle.
This is one reason why we live in a surveillance state, one reason why psychiatrists have become far more important authority figures, one reason why dependence on government is being pushed as never before.
The intention is to drive people back into their lives as obedient citizens, as opposed to free people who are seeing more and more of the truth.
Television, of course, plays a central role in this effort. Aside from what is laughingly called the news, the endless proliferation of crime dramas and sports coverage fulfills the desire for well-defined outcomes.
Good triumphs over evil. The good guys arrest the bad guys. One team wins, the other team loses. It’s clear-cut. Simple. With relatively few exceptions, things resolve the way they’re supposed to.
If the fictional hero is “fighting against the establishment,” it’s revealed he’s really battling “a rogue element.”
So the television audience can rest easy. It’s all OK. The authorities are on the side of the angels.
People caught in the middle tend to see retreat as their best option. They first looked for some stable platform on which they could stand, in order to send the old order to its demise; but not finding it, they opted for safety.
However, the itch and discomfort and the moral crisis don’t dissolve. They remain.
It is in this tension that new ideas and new solutions are born.
We are brought up to believe that if something is wrong, there is a prescribed solution; if not, nothing was really wrong.
This is the big lie. This is a prominent piece of mind control. It’s successful because official bodies are full of prescribed solutions. They appoint themselves princes of solutions. They breathe and excrete solutions every day.
Promoting and bringing about a wider gulf between the rich and the poor is another official strategy designed to force people to fall in line. Those on the edge of sinking into poverty are less likely to step out and defend conspiracy researchers and citizen reporters.
So it’s all the more unusual and forceful that we are seeing this relentless building wave of anti-establishment research. It means that people all over the world are fed up with the status quo and the official scenarios put in place to protect it.
There was a time, 30 years ago, when the best way I could get information out was to give lectures, have them taped on audio cassette, and send the tapes to friends and allies.
Fortunately, that time has passed. Now, thousands and thousands of researchers are being read, seen and heard online.
On some days, it doesn’t seem like we’re winning. But we are.
Keep it up. Find ways to cross that bridge from official stories to the truth and stay there. No one said it would be easy. It’s always tempting to sink back into a trance.
But we do have an inherent desire to see things through. It’s strong. It’s compelling. It’s real.
Some years ago, a painter friend sent me the following note. Its implications are universal:
I used to be a house divided. I knew the work I wanted to do wouldn’t become popular in the marketplace. I was torn in half. I knew how to please the powers-that-be. But then it occurred to me: what would happen if I catered to the dominant culture and still failed to prosper? That would be the ultimate irony. If I went my own way, to the hilt, and did the work I wanted to do, I would have freedom, and the joy of looking at what I had produced. I wouldn’t go to sleep every night wondering what the hell I was doing. I would know.
That spirit is very hard to kill. In the long run, it’s impossible to destroy it.
It keeps resurfacing, like a dream that is more real than waking life.

Seasonal Greeting and a Merry Christmas

It’s REALLY COLD here… winter has arrived; Happens every year about this time.  Staying warm and looking back over the past year, this has been an eventful, busy and changing 2013.

At our age things change… comings and goings.  We spend more time saying goodbye.  It was a long list in 2013.  Christmas eve last December we said final goodbye to my Uncle Earl, the man who was father to me most of my life. A little over a month later goodbye was said to my uncle Wally, my Aunt Inez passed, Barb Short my friend and Bookkeeper, my cousin Robert’s wife Laura in Virginia (I flew out, Robert has always been a hero to me and Laura was part of that), a College Friend Rick.  Then over Thanksgiving weekend my friend and one time business partner Larry  found rest after a long battle.

You would think this makes us sad.. goodbye does…but that is the circle of life.  In the same year in our extended family: Tim and Megan, Sam and Suk, Mike and Erin and David and Heather all did their part to complete the circle and replenish the earth with new young souls.

It’s been busy.  A project in Texas kept me hopping.  I met a man during that time who I respect a lot… Dave.  He has the job of unraveling difficult deals and in the middle of the mess he said goodbye to his dad too.  These kind of men are rare.

After Hurricane Sandy I was involved in the rebuilding of a beach on Long Island.  It was an exciting project and it was rewarding.  One of the largest I have ever been part of.

At my age we are supposed to slow down I hear.  We attended my 50th High School Reunion.  It would have been more fun if there weren’t so many old people in attendance.   WAIT… we are all the same age.  Yet, of the 33 who graduated in 1963 all are still alive.  That is astounding.  I reacquainted myself with my High School football coach who also taught biology.  He made a much better biologist of me than a football player.

We kept the wheels spinning on the old Buick to see nephew Josh, aspiring professional baseball player.  His last game was Senior day with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  He didn’t play much because a few weeks later he had surgery for a joint and tendon injury.  Baseball is still calling.  Summer was different because of all this.  We spent the last several summers watching Josh play every night all summer long.  It was a great diversion.  This summer not.  So we did other things.

A month later after the 4th of July Peggy and I decided to take one of those epic trips our friends Rick and Eldra had taken.  We drove to Florida via Alabama and saw friends all along the way.  Then we spent a couple weeks enjoying the sun coming up and going down 3 different ways on three different beaches.  Panhandle, Eastern Shore and West side on Siesta Key.   We were on what is supposed to be the most beautiful beach in the USA.  I’m not convinced… but it was nice.  One thing is for sure, summer is a much better time to visit Florida.  The weather is nicer.  Coming back we drove to Memphis. Went to Graceland.  It was worth the trip.  I enjoyed it a great deal.  Second time for Peggy.  Then we went downtown. Beale Street.  It was bike night.  Hot.  Beautiful.  We walked up and down the street and listened to some of the greatest blues and jazz you can hear live… and free.  I made sure we paid our part when it was great.  It was really worth the side trip.

After we got back we decided to entertain.  Well kinda.  Our son Tim is a contractor.  I’m not.  We invited him to come down and work (for pay) doing the kind of thing he is so good at.  He brought the whole family and a travel trailer.  WOW.  That was something. For a week life was upside down.  Our house now has updated bathrooms, kitchen floor, attic insulation, new front door and a host of other things.  I don’t do home improvement. I don’t even watch it on TV.  I get the cold sweats when I see these programs so I don’t watch them.  Fortunately I have sons who are better at these things than I am.  Give me a wrench or a shovel and I’m good to go.

A few weeks later Kevin came to visit for a week and he was handed a paint brush.  He knew why he was coming and it was a paid vacation for him.   So 38W looks a lot better than it used to.  He by the way has a new gig in Texas.  Coffee.  More as that goes along.

With all the driving it became apparent that the old Buick with 300,000 miles on it was starting to gray out.  In September new wheels showed up for Peggy and me.  She prayed the Janis Joplin prayer, “Oh Lord won’t ya buy me…”  OK, it’s not new. 2002. Neither is my NEW (2003) Buick.  We don’t do new cars.  We just buy new miles.  Nice cars.

The trip to Dakota for Thanksgiving was eventful coming back to Chicagoland.  It was a reminder of why we don’t do that much any more.  I don’t drive at night much if I don’t have to.  And winter trips are a real challenge. Fair weather travel is now our motto.

We are in good health for this time in our lives, and we still very much in love.   I am one of the most fortunate men on the planet.  Life is good.  At this point I have a lot of projects (for pay) going on and work every day.  It’s good. I love to keep busy.  And it helps pay the bills.

Ministry wise, good things are happening.  I have backed away from involvements that don’t fit my core ministry.  I have enjoyed involvement as I can at Crusaders in the City.  The blogging is fun and Facebook is a constant source of interaction.  It keeps my theological muscles exercised.

Peggy keeps busy doing things with people she helps out.  I could not be who I am without her.  That is the truth.  She does so many things for me that help me be productive.  Behind every good man is a GREAT woman.  Our life is a living testimony to that.

I look forward to the next year.  We are in the process of selling off parts of the business    to focus on the professional consulting and appraisal work I do and nursery brokerage.  It is something I can do till the last breath I take as long as I can talk on the phone and run a spreadsheet.

Have a wonderful 2014… and God willing we will see or hear from you soon or next Christmas.  Blessings to you all.

Seasoned for the Season by Olufunso Joseph Omidiran

Isaiah 9:6-7   6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  7Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Christmas season cannot be ignored because of the usual festivities and activities. It was a time I looked forward to as a child because there would be much food, new clothing, shoes, gifts, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, Santa Claus and joy everywhere! No doubt, Christmas is a worldwide phenomenon.
However, Christmas does not seem to be living up to its true definition, the Birthday of Jesus Christ as supposed, because Christ-less and lawless people enjoy Christmas, even when they hate Jesus! If  December 25 of each year were to indeed be Jesus’ birthday, it would have been so much of an insult and disappointment to Him, because not much recourse or reference is made to Him, He’s been so unjustly displaced as the Reason for the Season. I heard someone say on TV that Christmas is a time for families and friends to come together, eat and drink and never to be alone. That sounds good isn’t it? But this man made no reference to Jesus Christ who was born by a virgin and sent to save the world.
 Christmas without Christ
Christ-less Christmas is now becoming ominously acceptable to a world that hate the light and love darkness because their works are evil. That’s why rather than write “Christmas”, some simply write “Xmas” for short. At first ‘X’ looks like the Greek alphabet pronounced ‘Chi’ but in the real sense it means ‘cancelled.’ Isn’t this a satanic ploy to remove the name of Christ from Christmas? Some would rather greet you and say “Happy Holiday Season” instead of “Merry Christmas”. A lost generation who don’t want to be identified as Christians look forward to and like Christmas but hate Christ. What a futile effort!
A ‘Silent Night’ without the Saviour
I read with much pain in my heart of a school in New York that went on to do ‘Christmas Carol’ while their authorities made the school children to sing a popular carol ‘Silent Night’ and remove words like ‘Christ the Saviour’, the virgin birth, ‘Son of God’ from the lyrics. They claimed to have done this so as not to offend non-Christians and avoid any tone of religion. How many times have non-Christians asked that something be taken away from their religion so as not to offend those who don’t accept their faith? Interestingly, the parents of the pupils of the said school in New York were upset with the school officials for this insult and show of shame. The latter apologised however after the deed was done. Read the story here: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/12/19/school-removes-christ-savior-from-silent-night/
Here are the full and correct lyrics of that beautiful Carol which those godless people stage-managed:
Silent night, holy night
All is calm and all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from Heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing hallelujah
Christ the Saviour is born
Christ our Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God
Love's pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus Lord at Thy birth
Jesus Lord at Thy birth

Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
Christ the Saviour is born
Keep the Season’s Joy
The best way to keep the joy of this beautiful season is to be seasoned in God word. We need to remind ourselves always and appreciate what God has done for mankind. Salvation has been brought to us although we never deserve it. If we are seasoned for the season, the truth is that we are seasoned for life! Heaven is real and what Christ came to do does not reside in the land of myth or folklore. It is real and I am a witness that Jesus saves are you also a witness?  Christmas can also become an experience in someone’s life. Merry Christmas! Shalom.

The great divide

The whole Duck Dynasty brouhaha is a new dividing line in our culture. There is no neutral ground. There are others, Abortion is one. Homosex Marriage is another. What makes this unique is the reaction people have to this. Some are passive. Some are angry. Some think this is all stupid, Robertson needs to keep his ideas (even if they come from scripture) to himself.

How YOU react to this is a pretty clear indicator of where you are spiritually. Some will say, wait, I don't think this is that big a deal. Except it is one more way the division is illustrated clearly. You are now going to have to choose. The middle ground is washing away.

This isn't about Robertson, what he said 45 years ago before the great summer of "Love" would have been not only mainstream, but DUH. He has now demonstrated to all of us how far we have fallen as a culture, a church, a nation. Remember when David Wilkerson published "The Vision"? He predicted all this would happen in exactly this way. Now it is time to choose where you will stand.. not with Robertson, but with what was once the late great nation USA. We have become a cesspool. This writer demonstrates how far from grace we are. He represent exactly the other side's attitude about those who stand with me and others.

Re Duck Dynasty Deal

In all the response in the last few days, here's what we need to be doing:

Help others firm up their resolve
Show the error to those who might listen to reason
Don't bother engaging or arguing with those radically opposed to your position, you won't convert them and their vitriol is illogical and blind. Like trying to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time, you will only get dirty and it annoys the pig
Those who refuse to take a stand are not worth dealing with.

Spines are useful... get one
You're gonna need it

29) I wanted to know why we were promised a state of the art website and we got an abacus and a sundial. I want to know what we got for our money. I want to know if this thing could be fixed in two months why didn’t you have it up and running in the three years prior to October the 1st? — Congressman Trey Gowdy on healthcare.gov
28) When lefties “discuss” issues, a lot of their so-called “discussion” amounts to nothing more than rationalization about how & why some person should be excluded from further discussion. Either him, or the points he has just brought up. They truly do seem to think we become more “learned,” by way of knowing less. — Morgan Freeberg
27) Part of what’s so problematic with Washington is how many Republicans want a show vote to pretend to their constituents they’re fighting for what they say they’re fighting for, rather than actually fighting for it and actually winning. In both parties, you’ve got entrenched politicians who have barely veiled contempt for the American people. They think their voters are gullible rubes — and you give them a little “show vote,” you tell them, “Hey, I’m totally with you,” then they go to Washington and they don’t actually do what they say. — Ted Cruz
26) Liberals love diversity. That’s why they love to punish anyone who doesn’t think, act, eat, drink, drive and speak exactly like them. — Congressman Steve Stockman

Newlywed

I hate what we are doing to our young people.

They think they are entitled to stay with 'MOMMY' for as long as they want to....they can lay around, play videos and text.
The feminization of the American male typified in the Obamacare ad by "Pajama Boy."

These are the positions of Adolf Hitler.

We invite anyone to draw their own conclusions, but in no way are we calling the President a Nazi. He's a Democrat. And we know exactly what he is trying to do. Is Obama trying to eradicate a human race? Of course not. But someone who studies Hitler would understand that he did not have a single goal as dictator.
