In March of 2009 I prophesied that by 2020 the price of a can of soda would rise from one dollar a can then to ten dollars per can in 2020. Inflation is coming and it will be brutal. Pastor Nate Swartzentruber (you are still Pastor Nate to many of us brother) reminded me of a conversation I had with another First Assembly alumni. Pastor Dan was the Apostle of that Church. He was in many ways my Spiritual Father. His philosophy about closing church because of snowstorms was classic. Despite the fact that we had a LOT of blizzards, First Assembly of Fargo ALMOST NEVER canceled a service. Pastor Dan's question was: "Are the Bars Open?" IF they were..we had services. I miss Pastor Dan. It's been several years since he died, yet his spirit and anointing stays with me to this day. I hope I can be of some influence for good for a new believer as he was with me. RIP my Older (not in age) Brother. I know Barry Kolb remembers this loss when it happened, and he was kind and compassionate as I was in grief over it. I was able to pick up the phone any time and call Pastor Dan for good wise counsel. I really miss that. There are few of these men. I am thankful for those who demonstrate what really matters. I have sat at Crusaders and thought how much Pastor Dan would have loved the Apostolic and Prophetic flow that is there. He was very close to Jessy Dixon. Often wanted to come plant a Church in Urban Chicago. MAN..I have hopped on the train called reminiscing. Sorry.

Why I don't believe Frum is a Conservative

Conservative blogger David Frum says it doesn't make much sense to write only of the "good" Andrew Breitbart in the wake of his death, the version of him in which he's a loyal friend and family man. To do so "would be to miss the story and indeed to misunderstand the man," he writes at the Daily Beast. Breitbart reinvented the culture war and made it more about personalities than issues. Along the way, he got some stories right (Anthony Weiner) and some wrong (Shirley Sherrod), but he didn't care either way. "Just as all is fair in a shooting war, so manipulation and deception are legitimate tools in a culture war," writes Frum. "Breitbart used those tools without qualm or regret, and he inspired a cohort of young conservative journalists to do likewise." All of which leads Frum to conclude that Breitbart's legacy is a "poisonous" one. He achieved success through a "giddy disdain for truth and fairness" and his politics were "inflamed by rage and devoid of ideas." He was a public figure and should be judged by his public actions, even if "the obituary cannot be pleasant reading."

Questions over Mr. Obama’s birth certificate have been a political sideshow for the last four years, and have persisted despite repeated denials by the White House, and despite the release of evidence he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Aug. 4, 1961. That evidence included both a certificate of live birth released during the 2008 campaign and the long-form certificate last year.

Fact-check organizations have concluded the certificates are authentic, and Mr. Obama has joked about those who questioned his birth. At last year’s White House Correspondents Association Dinner, soon after releasing his long-form certificate, he mocked Donald Trump, who had said his own investigators were looking into the matter.

Now Sheriff Arpaio, who first built his national profile by creating tent cities for jail inmates and later by taking a tough stance on illegal immigration, could reignite questions among those who continue to believe Mr. Obama was born outside the U.S., and therefore is ineligible to be president under the Constitution’s provision that the officeholder be a natural-born citizen.

Remember, not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did too.
It totaled 15% of your income before taxes. If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that's close to $220,500.

If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer's contribution) at a simple 5%(less than what the government pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working you'd have $892,919.98.

If you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you're 95 if you retire at age 65) and that's with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit!

If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you'd have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.

We're "broke" and can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless.

In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile , and Turkey . And now Pakistan ......home of bin Laden.

Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives and now when it's time for us to collect, the government is running out of money.

Why did the government borrow from it in the first place?

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.

The Divine Proportion

I have always been fascinated by numbers. The most interesting number of all is one I encountered many years ago in my Design 101 class at Auburn University. This number is identified in the mathematics community as the Greek letter phi, expressed numerically as simply 1.618. It sounds boring enough until you learn how often and where this number keeps turning up in our lives.

Phi was used by the ancient Greeks who employed it prominently in their art and architecture. It was re-introduced to the civilized world in the early 13th century, by the Italian mathematician, Fibonacci, who stumbled upon this series of numbers while conducting a study of the reproductive cycle of rabbits! Since then it has been known variously as The Golden Mean, The Divine Proportion, or the Fibonacci sequence. This mystical ratio is prevalent in all forms of life on this planet, from the microscopic structure of our DNA to the tiny spirals of a seashell to the mind boggling swirls of a galaxy. Could this be a colossal coincidence or have we literally uncovered the intrinsic building block of the universe?

The Fibonacci numbers may sound a bit intimidating, but are actually understandable on the level of basic eighth grade math. The sequence begins with one and is constructed by continually adding the previous number in the sequence to produce the next number, as follows: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, ad infinitum. Once you get to number 8, its ratio to the preceding number (5) is 1.625. With each succeeding number after that, this ratio of the last two numbers gets closer and closer to the mystical 1.618.It should also be noted that not only does phi appear repeatedly in nature, but the individual numbers in the Fibonacci sequence also make frequent appearances in interesting places like the petal count on violets or daisies or the florets in the swirls of a sunflower (counts of 55, 34, and 21); all just coincidentally specific numbers in the Fibonacci sequence!

When plotted geometrically, phi is found repeatedly in patterns and proportions in nature, the human body, art and architecture, even people's behavior. It has become so accepted now in the financial community, that many professional money managers and individual market traders use Fibonacci ratios on their charts to time when to enter or exit a trade and would not think of doing business without them.

Check out your own body. The distance from your belly button to your toes will be about 1.618 times as long as the distance from your belly button to the top of your head.

Check the ratio from the tip of your longest finger back to the first finger joint, from there to the second joint, then to the third joint, and from there back to your wrist joint. Each succeeding joint will be about 1.618 times greater than the one before. Then from your wrist back to your elbow will be about 1.618 times longer than the distance from your wrist to your fingertip, and from the elbow back to your shoulder will be 1.618 times longer than the distance from your elbow to your wrist. Phi is even found in our DNA spiral! That's about as fundamental as you can get.

So the next time you encounter a landscape design or an architectural structure that is not pleasing to the eye, you may find the source of the irritation may be the missing phi. And the next time your stock reaches a new high and "consolidates" for a while, you may now understand why it will then proceed to retrace (go down) back to the level of about 62% of its upward move (giving up approximately 38% of its gain, while you gnash your teeth) before it resumes its upward trend.
