New Speak for Entrepreneurs

Do you have a "bajillion" things to do? Have you ever had a "light-bulb moment"?

Entrepreneurs need to keep up with the new business-related words and lingo that pop up almost every day. The publishers of the Concise Oxford Dictionary have added 400 new words to the 12th edition of the publication, so we thought it might be useful to take a look at the new terms. 8. Webisode
Definition: (noun) A short film, advertisement, or episode of a television series, made for online viewing. A blend of Web and Episode.

I recently asked my friend's little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President, what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride.

"Wow...what a worthy goal." I told her. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my driveway, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

Prepare Yourself for Change by Matt Sorger

matt_sorger_for_webRosh Hashanah is one of the highest holy days on the Jewish calendar. God works in times and seasons and never does anything haphazardly. Over the last 10 years since God first launched us into the prophetic healing ministry, I have noticed that each September has been spiritually a significant month for us. It was in September 2002 that our ministry was birthed, and with each September since God has brought a significant change and transition. September marks the first month of the original Jewish calendar, with Rosh Hashanah marking the first day of the New Year. The Jewish feasts and holy days mark important times and seasons in the Spirit. God still works in line with His original calendar.

A Time of Transition and Realignment Is Occurring
September, coming into the Jewish New Year, is often a time of transition and change. When the Lord brings change there comes a realignment of things, and a cutting away occurs. This brings a realignment of the body of Christ so that we are in the right place at the right time for the purposes of the kingdom.

I believe many in the church are entering a new season in their lives in which God is calling them to leave the old behind and step into the new. Things of the past that have impeded our forward motion must be left behind if we are to move upward in God’s purpose and call. It truly is a time when God is stripping and removing everything that would hinder our race in Him.

As we transition into the new we must understand what He is doing and what things He is requiring of us to leave behind. This transition will be different for each one of us depending on God’s unique plan and destiny for our lives. We must have an ear to hear Him in this season.

Be Careful Not to Copy Old Patterns
God is breaking out of the box. We must be very careful in this next season not to pattern ourselves after models of the past, even good models. We must not carbon-copy ourselves after patterns of ministry that worked in the last season. God is doing a new thing. To move into the new wineskin we must remain very pliable and sensitive to what God is doing and how He is moving. This will require a keen sensitivity to His voice and a boldness not to blend in and go with the flow. It will require a heart of total obedience and death to self.

Leviticus 23:23-32 speaks about the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement. There is both historical and prophetic significance in each feast.

The first three feasts deal with the first coming of Christ; the last three look forward to His second coming. The feasts still hold great significance for us today. Jesus said in Matthew 5:17: “Think not that I have come to destroy the Law, or the prophets. I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”

Colossians 2:16-17 also indicates that these feasts are a “shadow of things to come.” Things that have been concealed in the Old Testament have now been revealed through the life of Christ.

The Feast of Trumpets (Beginning A New Year Spiritually)
Sept. 29, 2011, marks the day of Rosh Hashanah, also known as the Feast of Trumpets. It begins the spiritual New Year. This day begins the period known as the Ten Days of Awe and ends in Yom Kippur and the Day of Atonement.

During this festival the Jewish people pray for God’s forgiveness, for a good new year and for long life. According to Jewish tradition, this day is also the beginning of God’s annual judgment of humanity. During this spiritual season God is searching our hearts. It is a time to:

  • Humble ourselves before God and let Him search and judge our hearts. We must have a contrite attitude and repent of all sin.
  • Pray God’s blessing over the New Year.
  • Pray God’s blessing for a long and healthy life in Christ.

Jewish services on Rosh Hashanah emphasize judgment, penitence and forgiveness. A shofar is blown to call the people to a place of repentance of sin and to be awakened to holy service to God.

A movement of holiness and power. During this season there is a call going out for both holiness and power. As we transition into the new season we will see these two very important streams running parallel to each other in the church—the stream of very deep holiness and the stream of extraordinary power.

The days of mixture are over when people have operated in the anointing in public and lived in sin in private. God is calling us to a higher standard, to a place of spiritual maturity. God is bringing the church into a place of true sonship. For this to happen we must experience His holy, loving discipline so we can mature into the place of holiness and power He is calling us to.

God is dealing with all mixture in the heart of His body, corporately and individually. There is a greater glory coming, and to hold its weight we must have a firm, strong foundation. As the power of God increases on the church we must have an even more solid foundation. God is taking all the mixture out so we can handle the pure power of the Holy Spirit.

We don’t always know what is in our hearts. If there is something that must be purged, God will purge it. Our part is to humble ourselves and let God search and cleanse our hearts.

Determine the direction for the coming year. The position we take before God will determine the direction of the rest of the year. What we sow now will release a harvest for the coming year. Rosh Hashanah is known as the “Head of the Year.” Jewish tradition says it marks the anniversary of the creation of the world and is the day when God takes stock of creation. Just as the head directs the body, so God’s judgments on Rosh Hashanah direct the events of the coming year.

I shared earlier that it is very important what we sow during this season. The decisions and choices we make will set the course for the coming year. The seeds we sow now in our lives will determine the harvest we experience in the year to come.

When I talk about God’s judgment, some will jump on that and say: "Yeah! People are so sinful, God is just going to destroy the world!"

When I say judgment I don’t mean God’s destruction. God’s judgment is always redemptive, and His discipline is always in love and with encouragement. Correction that comes without encouragement is not from God’s heart. His discipline always encourages us to rise higher; it never discourages us nor knocks us down. That is usually the work of a critical, judgmental spirit.

A good time to take stock. It’s a good time to go before the Lord and ask Him to search your heart and purge out everything that has crept in that could offend Him. As we move into the next season God has for us, the position to take is one of humility, searching and judging our own hearts so that we ourselves are not judged. It is also a time to pray for God’s blessing and favor on the New Year.

The Day of Atonement
Following Rosh Hashanah are the Ten Days of Awe that lead into The Day of Atonement. The Day of Atonement is the day the high priest would go into the Holy of Holies and apply the blood of the sacrifice to the mercy seat to atone for the sins of the people from the previous year. There was no barrier between the high priest and the full manifested glory of God.

I believe that as we humble ourselves before God and embrace the sacrifice of the cross in a new way in our lives, we will experience a depth of intimacy and communion with God deeper than we have ever known before. There will be no barrier between us and His glory, as we embrace the work of the cross. Humility opens the way for us to go deep into a pure communion with God.

It will be out of this place that we reap the amazing harvest that is awaiting us. Not only a harvest of God’s mercy and love in our own lives, but a harvest of global proportions as we see the heart of humanity turn toward God in this last hour. Get ready to move in His extraordinary power based in a life of holiness, humility and extraordinary love.

Origin of Left & Right...

I have often wondered why it is that Conservatives are called the "right" and Liberals are called the "left."

By chance I stumbled upon this verse in the Bible:
"The heart of the wise inclines to the right,
but the heart of the fool to the left."
Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV)

Thus sayeth the Lord. Amen.

Can't get any simpler than that.

Obama's best labor friend, Richard Trumka and the dead bodies he used as stepping stones to power

Meet Eddie York. He was a workingman whose story will never scroll across Obama’s teleprompter. A nonunion contractor who operated heavy equipment, York was shot to death during a strike called by the United Mine Workers 17 years ago. Workmates who tried to come to his rescue were beaten in an ensuing melee. The head of the UMW spearheading the wave of strikes at that time? Richard Trumka. Responding to concerns about violence, he shrugged to the Virginian-Pilot in September 1993: “I’m saying if you strike a match and you put your finger in it, you’re likely to get burned.” Incendiary rhetoric, anyone?

A federal jury convicted one of Trumka’s UMW captains on conspiracy and weapons charges in York’s death. According to the Washington, D.C.-based National Legal and Policy Center, which tracks Big Labor abuse, Trumka’s legal team quickly settled a $27 million wrongful death suit filed by York’s widow just days after a judge admitted evidence in the criminal trial. An investigative report by Reader’s Digest disclosed that Trumka “did not publicly discipline or reprimand a single striker present when York was killed. In fact, all eight were helped out financially by the local.”

In Illinois, Trumka told UMW members to “kick the s**t out of every last” worker who crossed his picket lines, according to the Nashville (Ill.) News. And as the National Right to Work Foundation (pdf), the leading anti-forced unionism organization in the country, pointed out, other UMW coalfield strikes resulted in what one judge determined were “violent activities … organized, orchestrated and encouraged by the leadership of this union.”

Trumka washed off the figurative bloodstains and moved up the ranks. As AFL-CIO secretary, he notoriously refused to testify in a sordid 1999 embezzlement trial involving his labor boss brethren at the Teamsters Union. No surprise. Thugs of a feather: Trumka’s violence-promoting record echoes the riotous Teamsters strikes dating back to the 1950s, when the union organized taxicab companies to target workers with gas bombs, bottles and fists.

And now, Trumka is spearheading a Democratic Party get-out-the-vote campaign by far-left groups — publicized in the revolutionary Marxist People’s World — to “energize an army of tens of thousands who will return to their neighborhoods, churches, schools and voting booths to prevent a Republican takeover of Congress in November and begin building a new permanent coalition to fight for a progressive agenda.”

Take those as literal fighting words. The bloody consequences of compulsory unionism cannot be ignored.

Grey-Haired Brigade

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were.

We have worked hard, raised our children, worshipped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America , we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read about in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America .

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies." You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse.

With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Cool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey Haired Brigade is here, and in 2012 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2012 we're going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Haired Brigade."
