When Culture is Collapsing, it all seems so reasonable..Humane... Normal..until it's not

It all seems so reasonable, so humane, so normal, so right in this modern culture... and that's the problem. We are fighting the wrong problem. It's the CULTURE.... The world wants to hear what the Men and Women of God are saying about the plumb line, the culture, the rightness or wrongness of cultural drift.

Like the nurse who let the woman die... it's the culture. We can't speak out against these things if we are unwilling to take a stand culturally. That is how we live, what we tolerate, what we won't, how we spend our money, how we avoid certain things, how we don't sanction cultural deviance, how we vote, the people we hang out with (you will become like the 5 people you hang with the most) and the lies we believe (receive a lie and it will put you in chains.

Time to quit protesting the results of our bad decisions culturally and begin to take a stand. It is everything we do, and yes, unfortunately pastor it IS POLITICAL. This pastor isn't having any problem taking a side. We don't, we waver when it matters and what do we have, cultural drift.

You are now being called on to choose life or death. Will you choose to serve God and LIVE or will you continue to compromise with the world and die? These men and women in the house and senate in Illinois didn't get there by accident. There were God fearing men and women who voted for those who will vote this mess into being. They have been blinded by loyalty to people who promise the world and stab them in the back. Just like Hugo Chavez did.

NOW WHAT? The second congressional election is coming up. There ARE two candidates. One is supportive of marriage as ordained by God. The other is NOT. Who do you think will win this election? Will otherwise Godly men and women vote democrat because they think this is just another election and that's how daddy voted? Cops: No charges after California home's refusal to give CPR

 You heard about this.  Woman 87 or so is dying.  Heart attack.  No Do Not Resuscitate Order was on File.  She is laying there suffering and dying.  The nurse calls 9-11.  Dispatcher begs her to give CPR to save her perhaps.  She dies.  No charges.  The nurse, an RN stood there and watched her suffer like she would watch a dying dog.  If you listen to the 9-11 call it is without passion or compassion.  WHY.  Her reason? Policy.  Policy that if she violated might cost her the job she has at the assisted living site.  Here's the problems I have with this account and the story:

Are we at the point where policy trumps compassion?
Is a policy that requires only perfunctory action (calling 9-11) a policy YOU would put in place?
Can you watch a person die without some emotion?
Is that where we are as a culture?

I have said for a long time that our culture is the problem.  This is a culture that values economics above humanity.  Job vs compassion.

I think about those people from Germany who worked in the camps.  They followed policy too. They watch people suffer and die too.. it was policy.  Besides working there was economic stability. I have thought about how often a person who worked at the camps would go home to their families, eat supper, go to church on Sunday, play with their kids and then go back and keep the ovens stoked and the "showers" operating.  Those were the policies.  Nothing Hitler did was outside of that policy.

I have often said, that the value of human life as depreciated by abortion will eventually migrate to the whole population.

This is a case in point.

Hitler had the policy of eliminating the useless eaters.  Old.  In-firmed, Mentally Feeble, Gypsies then Jews.  Are we on that same course. Is the demon of Molek loosed in November about to require the sacrifice of old people?  Useless eaters.  After all...it's policy.  But you vote for this.. and now here it is.

An Apology for being critical of President Obama

I have been Hard on Barack Obama. Compared him obliquely to Carter in competence, Nixon in vindictiveness and a host of past world leaders who were not to be emulated for the good of the nation. These last several months it is becoming clear to me that I have been wrong about him. He's not what I thought, he is just mediocre as a president. Mediocre in excellence. Mediocre in competence. He isn't Nixon or Carter... He's Gerald Ford.

Obama may resemble Gerald Ford more than any other president. Like Ford, Obama follows a fiscally disastrous and controversial president, yet largely continues that president’s military and spending policies. Like Ford, Obama seems like a placeholder between the liberalism of the past and the financial reckoning to come, when a president with genuine courage and charisma will have to set the ship straight.

This whole sequester event has demonstrated that President Obama is a C student in a job that required an A student to fill it. We didn't get to see his grades. Now we have a few more years to keep him from breaking any more china bulling around the shop.

I'll back off being so critical of him. He really doesn't know what he's doing and criticizing the struggling guy at the bottom of the class isn't fair. From now on I'll just post the grade (most of which will be C's, D's and F's) he deserves as he wanders on and off golf courses the next few years.

Chicago's corruption is exceeded only by Detroit. The city budget has been a slush fund for raiding by corrupt politicians for decades. Now that comes to an end. It is going to be brutal. DON'T GIVE UP! It took three years, AFTER "the" heart attack for me to quit smoking cigarettes. It was frustrating, I cried, and cried out to the Lord many many times, HELP ME!! See I knew that the Lord had a plan for me (Jeremiah 29:11), I knew that he had swept me up in his arms during the heart attack, not to torture me, not to see me perish, but to SAVE me! I knew this, and this was what kept me going, I knew the Lord knew I could do this, I knew that the Lord knew I WOULD succeed. HE did not save me knowing that I would fail, HE saved me Knowing that, that which had a hold of me, I could, I would conquer because of HIM, and through HIM!

Many times I would go days, even weeks without smoking a cigarette, then BOOM! a stressful moment, a hurtful moment, a painful moment would come into my life and I would immediately run to the nearest store and buy cigarettes. BUT!! Each time this happened the Lord showed me my weaknesses, the areas in my life that I needed to ask HIM to come into, to change, to save me from, to Free me of.

I would get angry with myself, with the devil, and yes, sometimes God himself. The devil was working to destroy me, my soul, my Love for God, my Faith, he set out to destroy what the Lord had done inside of me, to steal the Truth that had taken root in my soul. I sensed the enemy laughing at me, at me weakness, and yes my doubts that I would ever be free of this bondage! I became angry at myself for my perceived weakness. I cried to the Lord many times, LORD!!! I'm not throwing what you did for me in your face, I truly am thankful that you saved me, that you held me in your arms, why! why, is this so hard to do!! I realized that my concentration was on my failures, rather than who God said I am, I AM MORE THAN A CONQUEROR!! GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN ME THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD!

These scriptures quickly became my WEAPONS OF WARFARE! I repeated them, OUT LOUD! See, I had become so caught up in letting HIM down, that the precious gift of salvation and forgiveness had taken a backseat in my heart (the letter of the law kills). Believe, Ask, and receive!! I need to stop here momentarily; the word tells us all we need to do is ask in HIS name and we will receive, BUT!! we need to understand, we will only receive what is HIS Will, not ours. The Lord will only give to us, that which is in HIS Will, for us, for the good of our souls! We know that the Lord want's us free of bondage, free of condemnation, free from death. DON'T GIVE UP!

The LORD is your SHEPARD, HE SHALL NOT FAIL!

This was how air conditioning worked before air conditioning in cars was normal

. It really was a pretty good system as long as the car was moving in excess of 40MPH. On either side was an air vent that ducted near the floor On either side. It would flow fresh air into the car and then you cracked the vent windows on both side that would suck the air back out as you moved. Essentially in that situation, the temp in the car was about what it would be under the shade of a tree... plus a bit. This worked winter spring and autumn really well. Middle of summer could be a bit oppressive. In winter you turned on the heat and still vented. That way you could smoke in the car. Not that anyone reading this ever did that. Some cars actually had these vent windows behind the back windows. It really was pleasant. Cars were bench seats. Two headed drivers were common because your sweetie could sit right next to you. No big clumsy counsel. Sometimes we would install a fan to circulate if it really got hot in traffic. It was always necessary to have a steering knob. That way you could have your arm around your sweetheart and still steer. Seat Belts? Ha. We took our chances. No padded dash. It's a long way from what we have now. Those cars were our castles on wheels. Some things we call progress really aren't.
