If only the newsboy could throw better

In the News

When I was young, my father read The Times and The Tribune
The Times came in the morning and the Trib, the afternoon

He poured over their pages in his goal to stay informed
And he often uttered expletives while dinner rolls were warmed

He didn’t have a laptop and he didn’t use a mouse
But all the news we needed Cronkite brought into the house

On SATURDAY at 10 PM, he’s pocket a few dimes
And get the first edition of the SUNDAY New York Times

We’d drive down to the candy store and if we had good luck
We’d grab The Times (and Daily News) as they came off the truck

The Sunday Times was massive; a real marvel of the age
But my father wasn’t daunted and he read it page by page

I feel a little sadness
Maybe just a little shame
I can’t count on the President
To stop and do the same

I know the news is out there; I hear it every day
But all those trips and t-times must be getting in the way

Some may call it politics and some may call it lies
But it’s clear that every scandal always comes as a surprise

I heard an explanation or it could be just a fable
They trimmed the White House budget and they had to cut the cable

On every breaking story and on every super scoop
I guess that’s why the President’s been left out of the loop

Those old days weren’t half as bad as everyone alleges
When newsboys on their bikes tossed folded papers in our hedges

But if those newsies try it now, they’ll go down to defeat
For the front porch of the White House is just too far from the street.

This is a growing sentiment

These would be your slimeballs

I am going to upset a few gun enthusiasts (of which I am one).

There is a time and a place. Open carry is fine... in some cases. On the field. In competition. On the job in certain cases. BUT to bring an open weapon into a restaurant is over the top for me. I know that it's your right. I support that.. but common sense is a right and a privilege. This is leaning into the punch. IF you are concealed carrying, I'm glad you are there. BUT.. to have a 9 on your hip while I'm eating my taco is not that great an idea. SO.. use some sense. IF you are an armed officer or agent of the law or security... OK.. I get that.. but if you are packing openly pushing a stroller.. UMMM... can we talk?

Memorial Day Thought

I didn't know this, looked it up, and sure enough. It's true. God bless those good men and women. May their tribe increase.

KNOW YOUR HISTORY: Memorial Day was started by former slaves on May, 1, 1865 in Charleston, SC to honor 257 dead Union Soldiers who had been buried in a mass grave in a Confederate prison camp. They dug up the bodies and worked for 2 weeks to give them a proper burial as gratitude for fighting for their freedom. They then held a parade of 10,000 people led by 2,800 Black children where they marched, sang and celebrated.

Thanks to Abstrakt Goldsmith for this nugget of history that most of us never learned in school.

Is it a problem when Eleven million of us are living off the rest of us and are actually forbidden to work. I think so....

The conspiracy end time folks will have a ball with this.. The truth is currencies as we know them today will begin to divide into smaller components

NUTCASE

Yes, he really did say that Republicans aren’t American. And that they should stay away from the United States, and go to Russia where they belong. I only have one question ... who is going to pay the salaries of those left behind? Who is going to pay taxes? IF I know the democrat constituency.. it ain't them.
