IF you are broke and resent people who have made a lot of money by their own hands, you will work hard and never make money. If you are broke and resent people who inherited big money, you can bet that won't happen to you. If you are broke and resent people who get great jobs thru no apparent effort of their own, you can count on the fact you won't either.
The principle is this, your attitude toward those who are where you wish you could be will open or close the door for you. Be VERY VERY careful who you criticize and secretly resent. You are putting into play a spiritual truth that will come around to haunt you.
Begin to admire, study, learn from, connect with, work for, work with, emulate, pattern, model your life after those who have done well. It works spiritually and it works financially. We know all about spiritual sons, arbor bearers etc. The same principle of learning from those who got there, emulating, and admiring still works. Why do we think that's only in the church world. Stop being broke. Start looking to those with more and ask not, WHY THEM, but ask WHY NOT ME?
Seems like the Bible has a LOT to say about the kinds of relationships and friendships we should develop. Like creates like. It also has a lot to say about what our mentality needs to be to get where we want to go. We become like those we hang out with. Birds of a feather and all that. We emulate those we admire. We must shun those who would do us damage spiritually. We are hard wired to:
- Develop a closer relationship with God.
- Find the perfect man or woman.
- Have a better relationship with your spouse and children.
- Find the job of your dreams.
- Increase the Joy in your life.
- Find good friends
It comes by knowing:
- The importance of faith and belief.
- Asking for what you want.
- What brings abundance to you.
- What keeps abundance from you.
Matthew 7:16 “You will know them by their fruits.”
Use this verse to remember how to discern if another person is sharing information that can be valuable to you. For example, would you follow a person who is broke but they want to teach you about financial success? Their fruits (being broke) tell you that the information is no good.
Matthew 7:8 “For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
This concept is raised a few times in the Sermon on the Mount. Look also at Matthew 21:22. I’ve never seen anything in the Bible that says “ask, and if God deems you worthy you might get it, but don’t hold your breath.” The Bible is full of stories of overcoming (Job), of living badly and succeeding anyway (the prodigal son), and of believing and achieving completely with God’s help (Abraham).
You can choose thoughts of lack…
- I don’t have enough money to pay my bills.
- I don’t have the clothes, TV, car, house, or furniture that I want.
- I don’t have the relationship that I want.
If you choose to focus on these types of things, guess what, you’re in a “have not” mindset. When you’re in a “have not” mindset, the Kingdom Dynamic is going to bring more lack into your life.
Or you can choose thoughts of having…
- I have food to eat.
- I have clothes to wear.
- I have shelter over my head.
- I have furniture to sit on.
- I have a bed to sleep in.
- I have friends and family that love me.
When you choose to focus on what you have, the Kingdom Dynamics will respond to Faith in “having” and it will bring more people and things into your life.
There are ground rules:
1. Be Thankful For What You Have
Instead of focusing on what’s missing in your life, spend some time every day being thankful for what you already have.
2. See Yourself Having What You Desire
You bring to you what you focus on, so if you focus on wanting something, you’re actually attracting more “want” into your life. You need to get into the feeling state of already having it.
These Verses are KEYS to having the right relationships and attitudes in our lives
Those who are fearful of a person will find themselves trapped but when we turn to the Lord we can find safety. (Proverbs 29:25)
Don't spend time with anyone who calls themselves a Christian but indulges with sexual sins, is greedy, cheats, is into idolatry, a drunk, or abusive. (1 Corinthians 5:11)
We'll know other Christians by the right things they are doing and the ones who aren't will not be close with the Lord. (3 John 11)
You'll become like those you associate with. "Do not be deceived: 'Evil company corrupts good habits'." (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Be like those who are faithful and patient who will inherit the promises of God. (Hebrews 6:12)
Follow in the ways of the one who led you to the Lord by being faithful like them. (Hebrews 13:7)
If someone wants to teach you anything different than Christ has taught us, don't invite him in your home, don't encourage him, or you will be taking part in his wickedness. (2 John10)
Don't engage with those who are doing evil or testify on their behalf in a dispute perverting justice. (Exodus 23:2)
When we follow the ways that good men do, we are keeping on the path of righteousness. (Proverbs 2:20)
When we consider the awesomeness of God, it's good to be open about it. (Ecclesiastes 8:12)
Don't be spending your time with someone who's angry or hot tempered or you may become like that yourself. (Proverbs 22:24)
Don't answer a fool regarding his own foolishness because you may end up like him. (Proverbs 26:4)
Don't spend time with those who are foolish or eventually you won't be able to discern knowledge. (Proverbs 14:7)
If you are in the company of those who are wise, you will gain wisdom. If you are in the company of those who are evil, you too will become evil. (Proverbs 13:20)
Don't do things that wicked do and stay away from them. People who do evil don't sleep until their evil is done; they live for their wickedness. Those who are good are the ones who seek to please God. The days are much better for the one who is good than the one who is evil and will end up stumbling. (Proverbs 4:14)
If you get rid of someone who mocks, you will also be getting rid of tension, arguing and fighting (Proverbs 22:10)
If we stray from common sense we will die. (Proverbs 21:16)
Don't envy people who are without God or long to associate with them. (Proverbs 24:1)
Those who lead the righteous people to evil will fall into their own trap. (Proverbs 28:10)
We must have our mindset right to live in this:
You must believe that you have received. You must know that what you want is yours the moment you ask. You must have complete and utter faith.
In the moment you ask and believe and know you already have it in the unseen, the Universe shifts to bring it into the seen. You must act, speak, and think as if you are receiving it now. Why? The universe is a mirror is mirroring back to you your dominant thoughts.
There are cautions:
Matthew 6:19 — Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 13:22 — The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.
Most of our troubles start between our ears. Trying not to create condemnation, but I want you to reach higher than you are today. This might be a start...I hope so.
