Good for him
Good
for him, he's 71, she's a physician and 42. Hope for old guys.... eh?

came home late after Church last night and sat up to watch Leno. I
seldom do, but then Kristen Chenoweth (star of Wicked) was on. She did
this parody making fun of Anthony Weiner. It's not dirty... but it is
hilarious. She's a really good singer, I
can spot opera training in a second in a voice. She was trained as
one. Perhaps someday she'll go back. Enjoy the video, there is a short
commercial you will have to sit thru.
Worse TD Jakes has invited her to be part of a conference
She
has never been afraid of HYPERBOLE. As horrible as this race crime
was, about the same number people as were killed in one day on 9-11 by
Muslims as black people have ever been lynched in the USA. 3500. Why
does she do this? Same reason that
Sharpton and Jackson do... because it gets people like me to have to get
out the old Truth-O-Meter and set the record straight. What grieves me
so is the low information people in society that are so easily drawn
into this kind of mythology that it becomes institutional "facts". I
saw recently on a friends page a story from a mad magazine type site
that said that the leader of the NRA wanted to start owning black people
again. From the comments, many believed this. We need truth folks,
TRUTH. It will set you free.
Why we have insipid Churches
I
do not agree with this writer. He seems to thing being PC and very
careful not to offend is more important than speaking into a corruptible
culture with the truth of God. Here's the money quote from this

The other side warns you against getting involved. You're a pastor of a church; you have constituents on both sides of this issue; the church doesn’t need any more enemies; and you have bigger fish to fry.
You are a gospel preacher, aren’t you? They will cite the Pauline command: “Preach the word.”
IF you are the pastor of a church and have constituents on BOTH SIDES of an obvious moral issue, then YOU ARE A POOR PASTOR. IF you come out against Gay Marriage and that offends some in your congregation, you have a weak congregation with badly discipled congregants.

OH Lord, here we go again.
WHY would ANYONE in ancient Jerusalem for the
40 years after Jesus died until the devastation in 70 AD have preserved
this old piece of wood? AND THEN drag it running from the destruction
that the Romans brought. I mean, they saw and knew HIM as alive. Why
preserve this dead relic? I hates me some religion.

I know this very (too) well.
When government gets involved in making
health care accessible and affordable, it becomes neither. This is a
cumulative lesson the nation is about to learn... a painful one.
If you are looking for the True Church of Jesus, here's a measurement that might help:
The true church of Jesus is marked by HIS Presence, not it's history or size. The true church of Jesus will be an accurate representation of who Jesus is, Bone of HIS bone, Flesh of HIS flesh.
This does not include having guards monitoring the holy chairs at the front so only the most privileged get to sit in them, kind of like getting into a good disco... if your names not on the list, the Door Keeper (usher) will usher you back with the unwashed. I actually saw the guards (ushers) do this in a large church a couple weeks ago. I shook my head.
Pastor Dan used to say that the Holiest parking places were the ones at the far end of the parking lot. If you truly are holy you will leave the ones near the door for the visitors. Here's the question, if you are going to measure your fellowship against an accurate Representation of Jesus, how do you measure up? HMMMM?

THE JEWISH QUARTERBACK
The coach had put together the perfect team for the Chicago Bears. The only thing that was missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all the colleges and even the Canadian and European Leagues, but he couldn't find a ringer who could ensure a Super Bowl win.
Then one night while watching CNN he saw a war-zone scene in the West Bank. In one corner of the background, he spotted a young Israeli soldier with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand-grenade
straight into a 15th story window 100 yards away. KABOOM!
He threw another hand-grenade 75 yards away, right into a chimney.
KA-BLOOEY!
Then he threw another at a passing car going 90 mph.
BULLS-EYE!
"I've got to get this guy!" Coach said to himself. "He has the perfect arm!"
So, he brings him to the States and teaches him the great game of football. And the Bears go on to win the Super Bowl. The young man is hailed as the great hero of football, and when the coach asks him what he wants, all the young man wants is to call his Mother.
"Mom," he says into the phone, "I just won the Super Bowl!"
"I don't want to talk to you, the old woman says." You are not my son!"
"I don't think you understand, Mother," the young man pleads. "I've won the greatest sporting event in the world. I'm here among thousands of my adoring fans."
"No! Let me tell you!" his mother retorts. "At this very moment, there are gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and I have to keep your sister in the house so she doesn't get raped!" The old lady pauses, and then tearfully says,...
"I will never forgive you for making us move to Chicago !!!!
