I
was in a church service recently where the noise of the worship of the
leader went over the top. It reminded me of what it must have been like
as the priests of BAAL tried to call down fire from heaven. Yelling,
screaming, stomping and hollering. I am as pentecostal as you can get
but sometimes trying to gin up the Holy Ghost becomes a priest of Baal
exercise. Fortunately the senior leader stepped in and redirected the
meeting toward an encounter with the presence of God. Not all noise is
Holy... some is... knowing which is which makes all the difference.
Just because the worship leader calls for everyone to shout doesn't mean
we should.
