UNINTENDED CIRCUMSTANCE

I have already gone on record as saying that what President Obama did was legal, if unwise, declaring that he would not deport people who are here, but not legally. There is a problem that is an unexpected consequence.
You are Jose Garcia (sort of a Hispanic John Smith). You have been here with your family for 7 years. You heard the President. You want to believe him. You also understand that it's an executive order. About the weakest thing any law can be. It can be overturned in a minute. Certainly in two years a new President might well overturn it.
So the President says in his speech, "Come out of the shadows, register, we'll let you stay, pay your back taxes, become legal in your work and life".
That sounds great at first and then Mrs Garcia says, "Jose, if we register, if we come out of the shadows they will know who we are, where we live, what we do, where we work and by extension who our children and friends are." Jose, thinks it over and says.. you are right. We will leave it alone. The fear of a reversal of this policy will cause most Illegals to stay in the shadows. I would. Wouldn't you?
One other unintended circumstance is that MORE illegals will come not fewer. What you do speaks so loud they can't hear what you are saying Mr President.
But I guess those in the White House can't think past these things. On the other hand, if I'm in congress or senate today, maybe we permanently codify the President's mandate and that WOULD solve something. That would mean putting politics aside..and that will never happen..
