The Anointing of the Holy Spirit looks Foolish to Religious People

I watched a ETWN documentary on Father Solanus Casey the other day. I don't often watch ETWN but this caught my eye.

Here was a man, full of the Holy Ghost, did Miracles of Healing, Prophesied in the Power of the Spirit and flowed in all the giftedness we can imagine. YET, because he didn't jump thru the hoops the catholic church put in place he was never authorized to hear confessions or preach.

God took this simple man and from him created a powerhouse of a priest that touched hundreds of thousands of people. His life flowed with the grace and power of God.

He is in line to become a saint recognized by the Church. I wonder how many of those people who made the decision to call him "simplex priest" (essentially a second class priest) will be considered for sainthood.

In fact this goes wider. Most of religiosity considers those who are filled and flow in the Holy Ghost to be kind of weird, crazy and simplex. I wonder how many of those scholarly ivory tower sitters will be remembered in the exploits of heaven?

God's world view is upside down of the world's world view. Choosing the foolish things to confound the wise.

Father Solanus was one such. Foolish in the worlds eyes and soon if canonized he may become the first native-born American male saint. And, to top it off, he's from WISCONSIN. How can that be. Not even Ivy League.

Holy Ghost Harrumph.
