Wind farms a new threat for rare whooping cranes

This story is so typical. I have been against the money spent and subsidies given for really stupid technologies. I love our President but this I hold against him.

I wish they would give us our tax dollars back and take those eyesores down.

Excerpts:
We would hate to see any collisions with whooping cranes," said Laurie Jodziewicz, the association's manager of siting policy.

But she said the wind industry, which is now in 34 states and provided about 1 percent of the nation's energy last year, will continue to grow in the crane's migration corridor and shouldn't be subject to regulations that don't apply to other industries.

Stehn said wind farms could also become problematic if they discourage the cranes from stopping in a known area and force them to seek other stopping grounds.

"Will there be food in that area?" he asked. "Will there be predators?"

Stehn said it was likely inevitable that whooping cranes would be harmed by the wind industry. But he said wind companies could take steps "to make up for the negative."

From the comments:

John Doe and Alden, unfortunately, whooping cranes aren't the only threatened or endangered species potentially impacted by wind farms. Lesser prairie chickens, for example, will not breed in habitat that is too near a windmill. As the article points out, conservationists concerned with the potential impacts are not trying to bring a halt to new wind energy; they are simply trying to have simple "adjustments" made to reduce any potential negative impact (i.e. marking power lines or avoiding known habitat).

I mean, we have built way too many of these abominations. And we get 1% of unreliable power from them. If we doubled we'd get TWO PERCENT.

There's be no room for anyone anywhere if this keeps up.

DUMB DUMB DUMB.

This was stupid at the beginning and gets dumber every day.
