If only BHO would think about what GWB said

’‘Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is—the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.’’ GWB 5/15/08

If bush had only listened to The Christ he pretended to follow.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 5:43-49

rbb,

i think you are confusing a couple of things. i won't pit Paul against Jesus, as if they are instructing in two different things, but we must ask, how is God's judgment or wrath manifest? I believe there are several ways to answer this question and believe Christians err when they get overly simplistic, i.e. "Katrina was the judgment of God due to x, y, & z sins..." There may be some truth to this, but if we consider Romans 1, then we see that x, y, & z sins are due to the wrath of God. We can look at our culture spinning out of control into said sins and already conclude we are under God's wrath. It is not simply that "Katrina" (please note: i am not saying Katrina was the judgment of God per se) is the judgement of God due to x, y, & z, but the fact that x, y, & z is prevelant shows that we are already under God's judgment.

Now, to W. I can't sign off on much of what W did, but W's ministry from God was to execute wrath upon evil doers (Rom. 13). That is why God has ordained civil magistrates, to be his ministers of wrath. Unfortunately, most Christians confuse this and think the State is a means of grace, turning stones into bread by Gov't commandment.

Anyway, the words you quote from Jesus are not applicable given W's ministry. Now, if your pastor, whose ministry is Word and Sacrament, decided to pick up the sword and execute wrath, then I would say, "If only he listend..."
