35% of the first 39 books of the Bible (the old testament) are the prophetic word of God as he speaks thru his prophets, as he communicates with his people.
18% of the New Testament is focused on God speaking directly to his people thru his prophets and Jesus. How did the modern church become so deaf as to shut out the prophets? It's right to interpret and explain what God said in his word (Teaching) and it's good to use Biblical Foundations to encourage, correct, direct and appeal to people (Preaching). These have become a poor substitute for hearing what the Father is saying right now in real time (the Prophetic). What spirit is there that strives to silence the prophets? How did it get into the church?
Some would say that people in new testament times should hear from God for themselves. That would be true IF they actually did.
The prophets of Baal and the Prophets surrounding Jeremiah in his day were hearing from God too, or so they thought. People's ears are stuffed up by things, events and noise. They cannot hear..or will not. IT is fantasy to think that a people who think God told them to Rob a bank, divorce their wife, vote for a heathen, buy a car they can't afford or borrow money they can't pay back....that these people think they are hearing from God. The voice of the Prophet can and should speak directly to their situation. And, using scripture.... bad teaching and preaching has about doomed the church. IF we don't get back to the testimony of Jesus He will tear the whole mess down and start over.
Are there bad evil prophets? YUP. Are there Bad evil Pastors? Boatloads. Are there bad evil apostles and evangelists? Legions. What single gift can ferret evil out and expose it??? JUST LIKE JESUS DID with the Pharisees. They killed Him for it. It still goes on. Time to climb up Mount Carmel. Some false prophets and priests need to be put to death (metaphorically speaking).
