I did an informal survey.....I work among Mexican laborers, many are poorly documented. The average wage they earn to do the good work they do is $14 per hour. This is in the Chicagoland area. The contractors I know never have enough people. There's intense competition to find these men at 14 per hour. The money it takes to hire them is going up. Yet we have high unemployment in our area. Landscaping is hard dirty work and the hours are long and the conditions are less than ideal. I do it. Something is wrong with this picture.

The Pointed Gun and Finger on the Trigger

If you handle firearms as I have, you know this adage. Never point your weapon at anything or anyone you don't intend to kill. That goes double for placing your finger on the trigger.

Many in the prophetic community are starting to sense that there is a finger on a trigger. That in the next few months, this summer, there will be war in the Middle East. A Rabbi has been traveling around Israel trying to discern the times.

Here's part of his observation:

It's a two by two table. Either Israel takes the first round or strikes first. Either Tel Aviv gets the first BIG hit or Jerusalem. While the obvious scenario is with Tel Aviv, the market center getting hit, there is far more potency for Iran to strike Jerusalem hard. I'll come back to this later. No one here has any doubt that Iran has a big weapon and that they will use it. To play the American Game (like in 1991) will mean that Israel will have to wait for Iran to fire first. The longer that time plays out, the greater the risk that the first strike will be atomic. A Hiroshima sized weapon will hurt.

For Israel to attack first will immediately set off rocket bombardments from Syria and Hizbullah. The lunatics in Hamastan will also join in but they will be the first to feel the IDF fist. There will be no pulling punches this time. The question is whether the West Bankers will also open fire. The general Israeli feeling, given their training, is that the expectation is that all hell will break loose.

Israel has required all new housing to include bomb shelters--BIG ones built into the foundations of all new constructions--iron, steel, and thick concrete. These things will hold; so, the majority of damage will be real estate. Ironically, those at risk are those who have been flaunting the housing codes--many of the Israeli Arabs in the north. As in 2006, rockets can't tell the difference between believers and infidels.

In 2006, Hizbullah lacked both accuracy and power. This will not be the case in this war. Their fire power is hot and heavy. But they are up against a professional army that has been drilling and preparing constantly for the last four years under a tough and charismatic infantry soldier. This will not be an IAF war. The IDF is prepared. After the missiles, expect the Israelis response to be strong.

For a country where officials are not accountable in local elections directly to the electorate, there is a lot of road building, resurfacing, and repair going on. Virtually EVERY major roadway has been resurfaced right down to the matrix. Amazing. One might say that these roads are now able to handle loads of up to 50 tons on 18 wheels.

There are observations made by some people on this side of the ocean.

Hizbullah is being armed to the teeth by Syria.

The Scud-D has been around for decades; why is it being transferred to Hezbollah at this particular moment? There are two likely reasons:
(1) the White House has become the most prominent Western critic of Israel, and Syria is confident that President Obama will not do much to either punish an Israeli enemy or speak clearly in Israel's defense;
(2) under the Obama Doctrine, many enemies of America are treated with kindness in order to prove that they should not fear us, under the theory that once the fear is gone, there will be very little to obstruct the progression of smooth relations. The engagement policy thus requires the overlooking of all kinds of bad behavior.

Time to plan for war

In the coming war, Israel will have only one goal: to destroy or seriously damage Iran’s nuclear installations. Every resource turned against Iran’s proxies must be aimed at facilitating that goal. That is, the only thing Israel should seek to accomplish in contending with Syria, Hizbullah and Hamas is to prevent them from diverting Israeli resources away from attacking Iran’s nuclear installations.

This means that Israel must launch a preemptive strike against Hizbullah’s missiles and missile launchers, Syria’s missiles, artillery and launchers, and Hamas’s missiles and launchers. As for their short-range rockets, Israel should do its best to intercept them and otherwise hunker down to weather the storm of Katyushas and Kassams. Life of the homefront won’t be easy. But it won’t be impossible either, as we saw in 2006.

Israel is ready for war. Almost like national suicide bombers, the Islamic Countries are preparing for what will be certain death for their nations. Israel is poised to destroy them totally.

The Prophetic Stirring is for August. When Kings go out to war.

I don't have a clear word on this. There is much quiet preparation on both sides. The world will not watch this one from the sidelines. This event will have great impact spiritually, politially and economically. This is NOT the beginning of the war of Armageddon. This is a foreshadow.

When it happens, and I say WHEN because I believe the time is near, here are some of the ramifications:

• Many countries will come against Israel for it's intense response. They will excuse the attack from Islamic Countries. I believe that the current administration will be among these critics. This will cause even more division in this country than ever. The result will be geophysically devastating
• This will mobilize a strange alliance of the Jewish people who normally vote liberal in the USA and the Tea Party, not in rallies but in opposition to our tepid support leading to none of Israel.
• The stock and commodity markets will go thru huge reactions to this event. Higher gold and Oil...to $150, and a stock market in the High 5000's. It will become a new trading range.
• The mobilization of people to change our congress will accelerate. People will be intense. There will even be calls for the President to resign. Israel is a trigger and the Finger is on it.
• Our lives will change if an when this happens. This will be a pivotal event. The world's economy s so weak this will tip it over.
• Russia and China will come out stronger from this...that will lead to a move to "Settle Things". You know the book of Revelation. Look for that to come to pass.

Ignoring God's hand on Israel is not only foolish, but blindness.

Receive a Lie and it will put you in chains... The Culture of Murder

I am of German heritage. Lived in Germany for a few years. Speak it well. Love the people. Love the culture. Hate the fact that the culture was lied to and they bought it, in fact it was called the BIG LIE by Hitler. It worked so well it put the whole population in chains and led to it's downfall in losing a world war.

Hitler's big lie was, we are the chosen people, the Jews are keeping us down, oppressing us, It's all their fault, and we are supposed to be the master race. The big lie caused many to send sons to the Russian front to die for a lost cause. Sent unmarried women to bear blue eyed blond haired Aryan babies. And to stand by without objection to the brutal murder of Six Million Jews along with enforced euthanasia of their own relatives because they were old or flawed.

The big lie put my German brethren in chains...because they received it. The truth stared them in the face but they willingly received a lie.

In the Sioux Indian Culture there was the myth of the Ghost Shirt. They believed that if you did the Ghost Dance and if you wore the Ghost Shirt you would be invulnerable to the white man's bullets in warfare. It was a way the leaders of the tribe motivated people to go to war against overwhelming odds. The brave warriors went willingly trusting in the lie. They were killed mercilessly. The lie chained them to a certain death. The Big Lie from came from false Leaders.

Today in Islamic fundamentalist cultures the Big Lie behind blowing yourself and others up is that you will receive the gift of 72 virgins in heaven after you die this "noble" death. This big lie has put people, even families in chains that send their children out with bomb belts on. Martyrs are celebrated for their willingness to die for a lie. Mothers of Children willingly walk into crowds and destroy themselves for a lie. They are dragged in chains to death by a lie they received.

The lies we tell ourselves that put us in chains are lies rooted in victimization. The Hitler Lie about the Jews, The Ghost Shirt Lie about the white man's bullets, The 72 Virgin lie blaming the infidels is all about someone else is doing something to us. IF we buy into this lie it carries with it a set of chains. Chains that will lead to death or bondage equal to a mental invalidism. We wonder, how can otherwise sane people behave in such a manner. It's the lies we receive that bind us.

In the Bible a story of such a man who was bound by a lie is in the Fifth Chapter of John...

Jesus Heals a Lame Man

Notice this man's response to truth standing right in front of him (the way the truth the life).

Someone else always gets there ahead of me (I'm a victim of people's greed, oppression, others position)

He had been in this place for 38 years. He was laying on the ground, bound in invisible chains forged of the lies he willingly displayed. His life was predictable but miserable. IF he were to break these chains his life would change. He might not have been prepared for the chain breaking he was about to experience.

The essence of these lies has held whole ethnic cultures in America in chains from time to time like the American Indians. I have lived and worked among them in North Dakota and Tahlequah Oklahoma (capital of the Cherokee nation). Many American Indians have become wealthy prosperous, able successful pillars of any community. They learned to shake off the chains of perceived oppression to take on life's challenges and succeed. I helped put one such to rest a few days ago. Her passing was a celebration of victory.

Others among whom I have worked are bound as if the invisible chains were cold black and tied tightly around their neck. They cannot shake off these invisible chains to escape a bondage of their own acceptance.

The man at the Pool of Bethesda wasn't expecting much that day, he certainly wasn't expecting Jesus. He was expecting that until he died, no one would help him and that others would always beat him to the punch. It wasn't good, but he received it as truth and lay bound by the lie. It was a comfortable place even in discomfort. And he bore no personal responsibility.

The idea that we need Government or some charity to help us has put many in chains. It's a lie. It's a bondage. It keeps us inert. Disabled. Unwilling to see possibility beyond our misery. I think Haiti demonstrates this truth.

The idea that we are victims, that someone else always beats us to the punch, that we are disadvantaged for some reason outside of ourselves has put dark chains on our destiny and will keep us from achieving what we were placed on earth to do. We were not placed here to occupy space till He comes...we are here to occupy the space the enemy has stolen from us and others.

I spent time recently with a friend who said to me, "It seems like the sun shines on me, that everything I do seems to work, that I have more success at things than I deserve". I know why...he EXPECTS success to happen. He doesn't see his ethnic heritage as a barrier. He could be considered by some to be among an oppressed minority. Something the white man did to him or his ancestors. At one time evil white men put his people in chains and many died while bearing that burden. He should be a loser if the devil had his way. Instead he is a very successful fulfilled man. Who the SON seems to shine on. He is not receiving the lie.

I know many from the west and south sides of Chicago who are like my friend. The sun shines on them. Everything they touch seems to work. They live in positive expectation of success. Entertainment and business make empty the lie that ethnic heritage is a burden that is unable to be overcome. The Devil loves to tell this lie to make waste the heritage of young people murdering each other in gangs manifesting the hopelessness resulting from believing the lie.

Many who manifest this hopelessness live in the same areas as the victorious ones. They are bound in the chains of lies they received:

• The "Man" has done this to us.
• We are held down by the system.
• We are oppressed.

It's the same set of lies the man at the pool of Bethesda received. The devil has no new lies. Just recycled old ones.

If these were outright lies of a devil in full visible regalia, horns on the head and a forked tail and a red suit, it would be bad enough and we would consider those who propagate these lies to be evil. But the lies that put many people in bondage often come from people with Reverend as a title; Minister or Pastor. They tell these people that the problem is the system is unfair. That the establishment has rallied against them. That they haven't got a chance because of racism. Then worse they divert attention from the real cause. The rallies against violence in the streets focuses on guns and not on those who shoot them. Straw man lies. Behind them you hear the Clanking of chains.

These leaders have become the new slave masters. I don't question their intentions in some cases. I do question the lies they have bought themselves and share their chains readily with their congregations. The lies that put people in chains are of the devil himself. He is the father of lies.

The same thing is true of people who receive the lie that there is some evil oppressor out there who is controlling them. That they are under the thumb of a world government or the Illuminati, or the Bilderburgers (it's a hotel) or some liberal government scheme. If they buy too much of this lie....chains.

At the other end of the spectrum are those who believe the world is in ecological free fall, that it's becoming hot, desolate, polluted beyond repair and hopeless. This kind of nihilism has made people refrain from having children and insist that everyone has to change their lifestyle to fit some imagined threat (read that lie). These kinds of lies have caused all manner of distortions in energy production and flawed policy. It's all a lie and when you buy it, you volunteer to be put in chains. Those who believe these things are bound and fettered by lies of the master of lies.

I am not a fan of the governance in power right now. I don't think they know what they are doing. I believe they believe they are doing the right things...but they are like the the ministers I mentioned...right motive wrong action. And driven by lies and agendas.

People need to be set free from this victim thinking...from the chains that bind...from the lies that hold them down and be set completely free. The mission of the Church must be to come against the lies of the enemy. Truth sets people free. Yet much of the Church hides it's head in the sand and avoids confronting the cultural lies all around us. Lies that murder and destroy destiny.

It's not about color, it's not about religion, it's not about ethnic origin. It's about receiving any lie that puts you in chains. It will cause you to lay crippled for 38 years wondering why good things keep passing you by.

Shake off the chains, those lies that bind.

God's purposes for YOU are beyond anything you can ask or think. It's beyond your understanding. IF we grasped this truth...we would have the SUN shine on us too. We could live like the Kings and Priests we are designed to be...not like slaves to a lie and living under oppression. It is a demon. It needs casting out. Casting this demon out without replacing the space left behind with pure truth will open the door for even bigger lies. We must come against this with all the force the Truth of God carries.

Yesterday the memorial to Maxine Lea. A friend of mind, Ken's Mom. She was a great woman in many ways. Twelve years ago we said goodbye to her husband and Ken's Dad, Lloyd.

I was struck by the truth of so many things...a potpourri:

Somehow knowing Ken, I wasn't surprised that Lloyd and Maxine were part of the Circus...or carnival. Creative positive energy has always been part of their lives.

She kept the post office in business by sending encouragement to everyone she knew.

She was an inspiration in more ways than any of us can imagine. She blazed a path for her family they live in.

I admired the commitment that Lloyd and Maxine made when they decided to join a church. IF they were going to be there, they were going to be active and make a difference. They did. This is a "Maxim" I live by. If I am part of any organization, don't expect me to be silent or passive. EVER. I'm guessing Maxine was a lousy pew warmer. So am I.

The reality of her life was represented by a cake being served during the time after the service. It was a Cake, the last angel food cake, that She had ever made. It was in the freezer. So in a way, Maxine baked for her own home going service lunch. Seems about right to me.

I was privileged to be part of this in a little way. She was one of a kind and as the Pastor said, the last of HER generation. May we all do as well.

Wind Power Scam Revealed by a Kennedy

I have for a long time blown the lid off the whole wind power scam. In case you wondered if I was alone. I have company. Robert F Kennedy's son, Chris. Hates the whole wind power scheme.

So do I. This junk in twenty years will populate our landscape and have to be dismantled for scrap and the little bit of electricity generated will be insignificant.

The turbines will cost about $1 billion to build. Let’s assume that the useful life of the wind turbines is twenty years, that the maintenance costs of the windmills is zero, and that nobody has to pay a dime of interest on the $1 billion worth of financing needed to construct these windmills. Even if we accept such wildly inaccurate and charitable assumptions, the cost of energy generated by Cape Wind over those twenty years will be over thirty-three cents per kilowatt. That’s more than six times the typical wholesale price for electrons today, around six cents per kilowatt, depending on the market. Thanks to government subsidies, Massachusetts’ residents won’t have to pay the full price for Cape Wind power. Instead, they’ll only have to fork over four and a half times the going rate, rather that something over six times that benchmark.

I recently asked an energy executive why his company was investing in wind-power so heavily, when we both know it doesn’t make any economic sense to do so. His reply was that it’s all about the government subsidies. Once those run out, they intend to forgo any further – very expensive – maintenance, run the things till they break down and then forget about them. Given the high cost of wind power, and the fact that you have to have an equivalent amount of fossil power ready to back up wind energy (since the wind doesn’t blow all the time outside of the halls of Congress) it’s reasonable to assume that this fellow isn’t the only person in the energy industry thinking along such lines.

Wind power recently passed biomass power as number two on the Department of Energy’s renewable power rankings. The Obama administration loves windmills, but apparently not just because it’s “green energy.” It appears that there has been some spreading of the green involved as well. Former New York Sun managing editor Ira Stoll uncovered some of the connections at his website, Future of Capitalism. Stoll noted how $503 in stimulus money was awarded to a couple of wind energy companies that have close ties to the Obama administration:

“…the recipient of $294 million, Iberdrola SA, had executives who had donated more than $21,000 to the Obama campaign and related funds. Another $115 million in funds for windmills went to a company called First Wind, which, I noted, had owners that included D.E. Shaw and Madison Dearborn Partners. Shaw is the firm at which President Obama’s chief of the National Economic Council, Lawrence Summers, held a $5.2 million a year, one-day-a-week job, and Madison Dearborn is the firm of which Rahm Emanuel, now the White House chief of staff, said, “They’ve been not only supporters of mine, they’re friends of mine.”

If you really want to understand the futility of wind power, consider the following analysis. In 2007 (the last year for which verified data is currently available) the Department of Energy reported that there were 389 wind-farms producing electricity in the United States, with a net generation capacity of 16,596 megawatts. If all of those windmills were churning out electrons at capacity all of the time, they would have produced a little over 145 million megawatt hours of electricity in 2007. How much did they in fact produce? A little less than 27 million megawatt hours, or less than twenty percent of capacity (also called “capacity factor” in the business).

If a coal-fired plant providing base-load power operates at something less than a ninety percent capacity factor, it’s owners are going to take a long, hard look at the way it’s being run.

It's easy to cast a critical eye on the methods and imperfections of our mothers. Let's not today. Let's just identify the unheralded gift of having had a mother who authentically cared.

People who Mother are Mothers just as people who Father are Fathers. It's an act of intention not of biology. My Mother and Father died when I was 13. I was raised by my aunt and uncle...Mother and Father. I have had many who filled the role. Now I fill the role. It's not just the biology. It's the intention. Flawed or otherwise.

Father God, the perfect Father is also the perfect MOTHER...He loves and cares for you more than your Mother ever could.

"Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on
the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever

Mothers day Honors those who in a faulty way try to emulate Father God's perfection in Mothering. If Mom saw fault...HE sees destiny, if Mom made dumb mistakes....He never does, if Mom sometimes would hurt you or favor others...you are HIS favorite...and He shows you every day.

Forgive MOM...she's not God. She's a fellow pilgrim. In a spiritual sense..she's your sister. She will stand beside you before the throne of God in awe of HIS perfection for what she could never give.

Someday she will need you to hold her hand as she steps from temporal to timelessness. She will want to have peace from you. It's a gift. Give it. Give it today.

If Hollywood hadn’t spent most of the post-9/11 decade portraying Islamic terrorists as nuanced victims driven to violence by the West, their open cowardice when it come to taking on Islamists might make some sense.

"Green" technologies and renewable energy do not significantly reduce our dependence on oil!

The title of this article is deceptive in that none of these technologies could replace oil. In fact, the rapid development of any or all of these technologies would displace only a small percentage of US oil use. Roughly three-quarters of our petroleum usage is in the transportation sector (read: gasoline), while none of these technologies are viable as a fuel replacement. The other quarter of petroleum energy usage is primarily commercial and industrial CHP (combined heat and power) for which trash burning would be the only potential replacement of the four techs discussed here.

In the end, this idea that these clean renewables like wind, solar, and tidal are going to reduce our dependence on oil is an unfortunate misconception. Even if we increase out output from renewables by an order of magnitude, we've displaced some energy use from coal, natural gas, and nuclear, but done very little to put a dent in oil usage.

If you take oil out of the title (4 Energy Technologies That Could Replace Oil) , the claim that these technologies could replace coal or nuclear is still erroneous. Coal and nuclear are used as base load power sources, while wind and solar are not base load viable. In the case of wind, peak output (nighttime) is very much mismatched with peak demand (daytime). Yes, you can absolutely reduce our dependence on both coal and nuclear with these green technologies, but no amount of solar panels on roofs or wind farms is ever going to shut down the coal mines or the nuclear reactors. When I purchase a big item I stamp my ss number on it in various places, one that will be seen pretty easily then the others requiring a partial tear down. Just in case I want identify it later. I know a person who had his tools stolen and he found a couple of them but because he couldn't tell the investigators enough to make a positive identification he lost them anyway. I try my best to not let that happen, it had a scratch here or it had a bump there won't get it. Well I took the switch out and filed that little diddly thingy there that was bugging me works every time though or I replaced one of the brake lite bulbs or a switch and or had broken some little piece or what ever works though. If you use a stamp to put a number or letter in a piece of metal no matter if its ground off it can still be seen using the right techniques. Not sure about welding over it but that would raise questions because you can identify that as the place I put my name or a number.

1) We commit that our dialogue with each other will reflect the spirit of the Scriptures, where our posture toward each other is to be “quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry” (James 1:19). I'm for that...but that isn't what I hear...I see those of the religious left very angry...yet they want ME to stay calm. AND...what spirit of the scriptures...I imagine that would be pretty subjective.

2) We believe that each of us, and our fellow human beings, are created in the image of God. The respect we owe to God should be reflected in the honor and respect we show to each other in our common humanity, particularly in how we speak to each other. “With the tongue we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse those who are made in the likeness of God …. this ought not to be so” (James 3:9, 10). I will not curse another person...unless they are destructive to what I know to be true...I would have cursed Hitler. Have cursed others. Blessing and Cursing. Binding and Loosing are a responsibility. Was Hitler made in the image of God? We are to judge those with whom we have fellowship... yoking and all.

3) We pledge that when we disagree, we will do so respectfully, without falsely impugning the other’s motives, attacking the other’s character, or questioning the other’s faith, and recognizing in humility that in our limited, human opinions, “we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror” (1 Corinthians 13:12). We will therefore “be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:2). This one is one that I disagree with most. The motives of the left are NOT pure. Nor for some on the right. I am OBLIGATED to judge the motives. Wise as serpents...gentle as doves. Jesus would have had a really hard time with this...Whitewash tombs and all. This is Liberal Religious gobbledygook.

4) We will ever be mindful of the language we use in expressing our disagreements, being neither arrogant nor boastful in our beliefs: “Before destruction one’s heart is haughty, but humility goes before honor” (Proverbs 18:12). I'm for that...but it must go both ways. If you come at me with haughty, I will return the favor. Arrogant. Boastful. And our President, the one who the left would love to protect is most arrogant, boastful and haughty. A bad example. I wonder if HE took this pledge.

5) We recognize that we cannot function together as citizens of the same community, whether local or national, unless we are mindful of how we treat each other in pursuit of the common good in the common life we share together. Each of us must therefore “put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body” (Ephesians 4:25). Does common good include euthanasia, homosexuality in the pulpit, abortion. See. these things must be stood up against in TRUTH about them.

6) We commit to pray for our political leaders—those with whom we may agree, as well as those with whom we may disagree. “I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made … for kings and all who are in high positions” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). I do actually pray for BHO. I pray he repents and come to his senses or is removed from office. How else should I pray, that he continues on the path he is on?

7) We believe that it is more difficult to hate others, even our adversaries and our enemies, when we are praying for them. We commit to pray for each other, those with whom we agree and those with whom we may disagree, so that together we may strive to be faithful witnesses to our Lord, who prayed “ that they may be one” (John 17:22). See Number 6. Oh, and I do NOT hate liberals, as people. I hate what they stand for. As I do not Hate Homosexuals or even those who are engaged in Abortion. But I oppose them...at every turn. More religious gobbledygook.

We pledge to God and to each other that we will lead by example in a country where civil discourse seems to have broken down. We will work to model a better way in how we treat each other in our many faith communities, even across religious and political lines. We will strive to create in our congregations safe and sacred spaces for common prayer and community discussion as we come together to seek God’s will for our nation and our world.

I believe in the prayer of agreement...this cannot be that.

I really GET why in the LCMS we do NOT pray with just anyone...or how we pray for those we oppose.

What is Man from Martin Luther King Jr

"What is man?" is a piece from Measure of a Man which was written by Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1959.

King begins by stating that he will attempt to answer the question “what is man”, which he believes leads to determining the political, social and economic structure of society. He raises issues of totalitarian government and democracy. He also states, ‘Although there is widespread agreement in asking the question, there is fantastic disagreement in answering it’. There are some people, he continues, that believe ‘man is little more than an animal’ and there are those ‘who would lift man almost to the position of a God’. There are then those who would ‘combine the truths of both’ and see ‘man a strange dualism, something of a dichotomy’ and quotes ‘there are depths in man that go down to the lowest hell, and heights that reach the highest heaven’ King sees logic in this view and uses the two following quotes as a basis for his position;

• ‘Thou hast made him a little lower than angels, and crowned him with glory and honour’. And the revised;
• 'Thou hast made him a little less divine, a little less than God, and crowned him with glory and honour’.

He notices first that ‘man is a biological being with a physical body’, which is the ‘less than God’, as we think of ‘God as a being of pure spirit, lifted above the categories of time and space’. The psalmist would then say that God made man that way, and because of this ‘there is nothing wrong with it’ and that ‘everything God makes is good; therefore there is nothing wrong with it’. The Greeks, as King informs us, ‘felt the body was evil’ and that the ‘soul could never reach its full maturity until it broke loose from the prison of the body’. However, Christianity raises the view that ‘the body is not the principle of evil; it says the will is the principle of evil’. He then defines that in ‘any doctrine of man, we must be concerned with man's physical well being’. To support this he brings up Jesus` quote that we need the “bread” to survive and also states ‘this isn’t the only part’ and if we stop here we would see ‘man merely as an animal’. He then brings an example of chemists who calculated that the values of man came to ‘about ninety-eight cents’, today with our living standards it comes to ‘a dollar ninety eight for the average man’. King challenges this idea by questioning ‘But can we explain the whole of man in terms of ninety eight cents?’ and brings up examples of human genius; and again asks ‘Can we explain the mystery of the human soul in terms of ninety eight cents?’ To this he answers “no” and states that ‘man is a child of God’ and raises the second basic point of the doctrine ‘that man is a being of spirit’, which is the ‘thou has crowned him with glory and honour’, and because of our ‘rational capacity, man has a mind, man can reason. This distinguishes us from the lower animals’. King then defines man as ‘God’s marvellous creation. Through his mind he can leap oceans, break through walls, and transcend the categories of time and space’. With this he defines what the biblical writers meant when they said ‘man is made in the image of God’, and that he has ‘rational capacity; he has the unique ability to have a fellowship with God. Man is a being of spirit’.

King then defines the third doctrine of man which ‘is the recognition that man is a sinner. Man is a free being made in the image of God’. Man also has the ability to ‘choose between alternatives, so he can choose the good or the evil, the high or the low’. King then admits that ‘man has misused his freedom’ and concludes that ‘man is a sinner in need of God’s divine grace’. King also admits that we find excuses to avoid this reality, ‘we say that man’s misdeeds are due to a conflict between the Id and the superego’. He then states the conflict is ‘between God and man’, and that we want to cry with St. Augustine, “Lord, make me pure, but not yet”. This then leads King to argue that ‘the “isness” of our present nature is out of harmony with the “oughtness” that forever confronts us’ with this ‘we know how to love, and yet we hate. We take the precious lives that God has given us and throw them away in riotous living.' He then compares us to ‘sheep (who) have gone astray.’ With this line of thought he concludes with ‘we are all sinners in need of God’s divine grace’. He then looks at history and sees ‘how we treat each other. Races trample over other races; nations trample over other nations. We go to war and destroy the values and lives that God has given us.’ With this he realises that ‘man isn’t made for that’ and ‘we were made for eternity’. The example of the “prodigal son” is then used to describe our relationship with God, believing that God will forgive us if we ask for it, ‘man is not made for the far country of evil…decided to rise up…I still love you’.

This is then defined as the ‘glory of our religion that when man decides to rise up, from his evil, there is a loving God saying, ‘Come home, I still love you”’. This is then compared to the actions of United States civilisation who started out right writing ‘all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. Among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’, but after trampling over ‘sixteen million of your brothers. You have deprived them of the basic good of life. You have treated them as if they were things rather than persons.' He ends the article with a prayer hoping for the ‘high and noble good’ and wishing America back home.
