In the spirit of A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift of a few years ago, I offer this practical creative solution for the Mexican Immigrant problem.
The Supreme Court has already demonstrated that sovereignty means little or nothing. So, let’s just declare that we need Mexico, Guatemala and Belize to enhance the economic interests of the USA. It’s a taking. I mean they all want to come here anyway. So lets make it easy. As of January 1, 2007 Mexico, Guatemala and Belize are part of the new US States.
I have watched enough of the Sopranos and the Godfather to know that if we sent the “Right” people to the elite in Mexico and the other countries and placed a few equestrian heads in the right beds that the offer we would make to buy Mexico for a dollar would be taken in a minute. The other two would follow after Mexico fell.
I lived in Germany when the wall fell. I was there when West and East Germany were unified into Germany.
This is very much the same. They want to do it from the south, so lets just beat them to the punch. No El Norte. The 75 United States of America.
The currency exchange rate is about 10 peso's per dollar right now. So if you are a Mexican you get your pesos converted to dollars at the current rate. No more Peso.
All Mexicans are made Citizens of the new USA. The states in Mexico become States of the USA. The only border we have to worry about building a wall in front of is the Honduran/Guatemalan border. That’s a fence 30 feet high and about 200 miles long. A Piece of cake border to defend.
75 states of America. Messes up the flag a bit but oh well. Maybe we add a little Green to the flag to demonstrate this new country's unification.
Think of the benefits:
-Oil, these countries have oil. We need oil. It’s good for everyone.
-Construction of new highways into the new areas like happened in Germany after the wall fell.
-Housing would improve radically. You can’t believe how fast that happened in East Germany after reunification.
-Consider the new building as developers move into these tropical paradises and build condos and hotels on the miles of virgin beaches. I might even be able to afford a beach home.
-The world would become cleaner because clean air rules we live under in the USA would now accrue to the new 75 states of the US.
-Washington DC would no longer be practical as the nations capital. I would propose Dallas. There’s that big airport (DFW) that is way underused. That move might root out some of the corruption as the east coast mentality would be replaced with Texas practicality.
-And, the new President of this new multi-cultural country would be a multicultural President and First Lady Jeb and Columba Bush.
Ex-President George Bush would be close by for advice.
There would have to be understandings.
For instance, we’re all Americans now. So we are going to flip a coin. Heads we all speak Spanish tails we all speak English. I mean, 230 years ago when the USA was formed we nearly all spoke German. The vote for English was decided by one vote. Or this would have all been auf Deutsch.
Oh, relax, Tony Soprano can fix that too. It'’d all be for TV.
Think of the new jobs teaching English to the new American States Citizens.
And don’'t give me the argument that the world would hate us for our imperialism. What imperialism? We are just making official the net result of what is happening anyway, we are just doing it on our terms, not theirs. Besides, ask me if I care what the world thinks. Who are they going to complain to? The UN? Give me a break. Maybe the UN would get so mad they’d move out of the US. Hey, that’'s a good thing. The world hates us anyway. Let’s take advantage of it before some liberal becomes President.
There are laws against US citizens owning desirable property in Mexico. When it’s all the 75 United States of America that law will go away. Which way will the migration go then? I’'m heading south.
In the end, the realty of this little farce is the farcical notion we can build a fence virtual or otherwise which will stop this. The real problem is the corrupt incompetent government in Mexico who can't make it work. Our money is only stolen so giving them more money to steal is hopeless. Without a competent Mexican Government and a free Mexican economy this flight to opportunity will continue.
So as a good German, and invading Belgium seems so hard from Illinois, who’'s with me? I’m ready to march to Guadalajara. Wadda ya say! Ole’'
