Voltaire’s trenchant observation no doubt chafes many critics of former President Bush’s.
Who’s Laughing at the ‘Axis of Evil’ today?
By: Byron York
Chief Political Correspondent
Washington ExaminerThere are undoubtedly people who have a more vivid memory of Will Farrell’s “Saturday Night Live” version of the “Axis of Evil”—the one in which Farrell, as President George W. Bush, denounced Iran, Iraq and “one of those Koreas”—than of the real thing from Bush’s 2002 State of the Union address. A lot of comedians made a lot of fun of the “Axis of Evil” concept. But now, more than seven years later, it’s looking pretty solid.
This is what Bush said on the subject of Iran, Iraq and North Korea:
States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger. They could provide these arms to terrorists, giving them the means to match their hatred. They could attack our allies or attempt to blackmail the United States. In any of these cases, the price of indifference would be catastrophic.
You can argue till the end of time about Iraq’s place in that group. But is there anything you would disagree with in the former president’s assessment of Iran and North Korea? The last administration’s comedy fodder is this administration’s bipartisan consensus.
Recently I called David Frum, who is a friend and also the Bush speechwriter who came up with the “Axis” concept. (He originally wrote it as “Axis of Hatred.”) Given the seriousness of the situations in Iran and North Korea today, I asked, why all the mocking of the concept, virtually from the very beginning?
“The thing I never cease to marvel at,” Frum told me, “is that the phrase has become more and more of a joke even as the demonstration of the validity of the concept has become more extensive.” Frum listed some of the things the public knows now that it didn’t when Bush gave his speech—the A.Q. Khan network, the Iran-North Korea connection, the Iran-Hamas link. That’s just the kind of thing Bush was talking about.
But why were people ever laughing? Well, a lot of them just liked to laugh at Bush. But Frum believes there’s something else—the complicated nature of the word “evil.” “It just seemed overtorqued,” he told me. We use the word “evil,” Frum explained, in two very different ways. One is the totally serious sense in which we describe a very, very small group of bad actors—a group that doesn’t extend far beyond Adolf Hitler. The other is the sense in which we use “evil” as a light-hearted description for things that are at most a bit naughty—like saying we feel “evil” after ordering the chocolate cake. “If you’re not talking about Hitler, you’re talking about cake,” Frum said. “That’s why it was funny.” But that incongruity made it difficult for people to take the “Axis of Evil” seriously, even though it was, and is, quite serious.
Now, it’s not so hard. The Obama administration is trying to engage Iran on its nuclear program, and its allies in Congress worry there’s little time left to talk. On March 26, a group of top House Democrats sent a letter to President Barack Obama warning that, “Engagement must be serious and credible, but it cannot be open-ended.—We cannot allow Iran to use diplomatic discussions as a cover for continuing to work on its nuclear program.” The Democratic lawmakers said Iran must stop enriching uranium “within, at most, a few months of the initiations of discussions.”
So now we have a new administration with a more “nuanced” approach which has encouraged the Axis of Evil to resume their pattern of belligerence, provocation, and wmd development.
Was this the change the fools were looking for?

A Snapshot of Your Congregation
In a poll of more than 1,800 believers in this country, almost six out of 10 either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed with the statement that Satan "is not a living being but is a symbol of evil," while only 26 percent strongly disagreed. Proving the inconsistency that exists among many biblically unsound Christians' theology, almost half (47 percent) of those who say Satan is merely a symbol of evil still believe a person can be influenced by spiritual forces such as demons.
When it comes to biblically grounded views about the Holy Spirit, the statistics aren't much better. A disconcerting 58 percent of those polled either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed that the Holy Spirit is simply "a symbol of God's power or presence" rather than an actual living entity. (Among those, 38 percent fell into the "strongly agreed" category.) Only one-quarter strongly disagreed with the statement. Oddly enough, among those who believe the Holy Spirit doesn't actually exist, almost half (49 percent) say the Bible is completely accurate in everything it teaches. [barna.org, 4/13/09]
Kim Clement: "Be in Your Element! Discover Your Purpose and Destiny"
Element is used to describe the place where things we love to do and things we are good at come together. Each one of us must find our element. Have you ever heard the saying, "He is in his element"? It's that place where everything you do well and beautifully is enhanced and expressed without hindrance because of the perfect environment you're in. Water is the element of fish for instance. You've also possibly heard the saying, "He's like a fish out of water." Well, that simply means you are "out of your element." Many people suffer unnecessarily because they are forced to operate out of their element, and when this happens there is a pressure on them to be something that they're not.
This is one huge positive in terms of a prophetic gift. My belief is that a prophetic voice places a person in their element by releasing a word to them, that, in turn, forces them to seek an environment conducive or favorable for their gift. My goal and aspiration in life is to create environments for all whom I am privileged to be in contact with—where each one of them is inspired to grow creatively.
King David was in his element in the wild, on the hills and mountains with his harp in one hand and his sling in the other. He was chosen as king, but the environment that was afforded him was not favorable for his existence. Once he got into the polished, marble and gold palace, he felt like a fish out of water. He ended up with another man's wife and killing his best friend.
Eventually, King David built a mountain, a rough mountain, and called it Zion. On that mountain he placed a tent, and in the tent, the Ark of the Covenant. He called this place, "The City of David." He created an environment where he was inspired and "at home." He was in his element. People need to have the chance to do what they should be doing and to discover their element in their own way.
What is Your Purpose? What is Your Destiny?
The fact is that there is a difference between your purpose and your destiny. Your destiny is your ultimate election. Your purpose is your present call. What did God choose you to do ultimately on this earth? What is your ultimate election? What were you elected to do before you were born? That's what your destiny is. What is your purpose? Your purpose is whatever you are called to do right now at this very moment.
Again, let me mention King David. David was one of those guys that was in his element when he was in the field, with his harp and with his slingshot, when he was killing bears and lions and singing songs to God. One day the prophet Samuel came to him and said, "You are anointed to be the King of Israel." And from that point onward, destiny was released in David. David already had an election before he was born, but destiny was released. It was stagnant until the prophetic word came to David.
The same applies to you—there is something inside of you that has not yet been unlocked. There is a destiny inside of you that you don't even know about, that you were elected for long before you were born, and suddenly, the Spirit breathes on you and immediately that destiny inside of you is released, it's unlocked, and you suddenly become more aware of it.
Once Samuel had prophesied and laid his hands upon David and said, "You are the King of Israel," did David become the king immediately? No, not according to the Scriptures—it tells us that it took years until David was finally crowned as the King of Judah, and then later the King of Israel. This is important for you to realize—David lived according to his destiny while he was serving his purpose. Destiny is what you are ultimately called to perform in this life. Your purpose is what you are called to perform while progressing to your destiny.
First of all, David is elected and anointed to be the King of Israel, the King of Zion. But he is a young man. He goes out into the fields and one day he hears the sound of a giant that is challenging the people of Israel. Suddenly, something rises in David and he becomes enraged and boldness rises inside of him. His destined authority takes over and he begins to say things that he never dreamed he would say as a shepherd and psalmist. David begins to speak to the people and says, "Give me this uncircumcised Philistine, I'll take him down!"
This boldness provokes anger and jealousy amongst his brothers. His brothers say, "What are you doing here? You are supposed to be in the field looking after our Dad's sheep." They get provoked to jealousy, because sometimes that's what happens when the authority of God comes upon you when you have a destiny. So David says, "I want to have a chance to fight this giant."
You know this story. He prophesies to Goliath and tells him exactly what he's going to do with him in the name of the Lord of Hosts, and it happens! From that point onward, David's call or purpose is to be an armor bearer for King Saul. You may think, "He was anointed to be the King of Israel!" Well that's right, but you've got to understand that he has to serve a purpose before he takes the throne in his ultimate election.
What Are You Called to Do Right Now?
What is your call? What is your purpose? What are you called to do right now? David was called to be an armor bearer and psalmist-musician for King Saul; that was his temporary purpose. Your purpose is always temporary, always changing, but always promoting your destiny. Your present purpose is never permanent. It's important for you to understand that. What you are doing right now may only be for a specific time because God is leading you to your destiny. But if you don't fulfill your call, you may never get to your destiny.
What was David's "call" after that? David's call after that was to run into the wild and live there in exile. King Saul became jealous of David and chased after him, attempting to kill the anointing that he felt belonged to him. David's call, or his purpose, was to be in the field, in the mountains and the hills. Yet even though he was in a place of confinement, he was fulfilling a call and a purpose.
Joseph was anointed and had a dream of kingship. His brothers became jealous of him and were provoked to anger. Why? Because Joseph opened his mouth and spoke with boldness and said, "This is what I dreamed." You see, that boldness comes upon you only when you have been released into your destiny. Once you've been released into your destiny, you may not even realize it, but you are speaking out something that is already in existence. Many other people will be angry with you and upset.
After they sold Joseph as a slave, he was "called" to be in Potiphar's home. Joseph was then placed into prison, and even though he was in solitary confinement, he had a purpose. His purpose was to minister to the butler, to the baker and to the prisoners, and he did it! The Bible says that Joseph prospered in prison. You can prosper in any kind of confinement IF you realize that this is your purpose, and this purpose is leading you to your ultimate election.
You don't have to be confined by bars. You don't have to be confined by the words of people. You don't have to be confined by hatred, jealousy or competition. No matter where they place you, you will still prosper because your destiny dictates your present circumstances. Many of you don't realize that if you keep your eye on your destiny and you fulfill your present purpose—which is whatever you are called to do, whether mopping floors somewhere or working a menial job—YOU WILL BE HAPPY WHILE ON YOUR JOURNEY TO YOUR POSITION IN LIFE.
2 Peter 1:10: "Therefore brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and your election sure. For if you do these things you will not stumble."
When you are sure of your call and you are sure of your election, you will never stumble. The word "stumble" there doesn't mean that you're not going to sin and you're not going to make a mistake. It just means that you may fall down, you may make a mistake, but you will ultimately rise up and you will get back on track because YOUR CALL AND YOUR DESTINY WILL RESTORE YOU.
Your Call is Your Purpose in 2009
Now I'm going to rephrase this because I want you to be in your element. I want you to be at the place where you are doing what you enjoy doing and you are doing what you do well, so that you are not like a fish out of water. Remember, there's a difference between your call and your election. Your call is your purpose in 2009. What is your purpose in 2009?
"Well, I'm called to be a radio announcer. Well, I'm called at this time to be a janitor, but I know that one day I'm going to be a multi-millionaire. I'm going to be a great salesman; an entrepreneur." Make sure of what your call is, and make sure of your election. What's amazing in 2 Peter 1:10-11, "...if you do this...(if you know what your election is and if you know what your call is) an entrance will be supplied for you in the everlasting Kingdom..." What does this mean?
Everybody wants to enter the Kingdom. I'm not talking about going to Heaven. Entering the Kingdom of God means being effective, powerful, influential and affluent in every way on this Earth for the purpose of God. Peter says that, "You have an entrance into the everlasting Kingdom." The Kingdom of God is the rulership of God and we have to enter that. And he is also saying, "If you know what your calling is, if you know what your election is, there will be a door open to you into the everlasting Kingdom."
Why was David able to sing in Psalm 57:7, "My heart is fixed oh God, my heart is fixed: I WILL sing praise" while he was in a cave? What gave him this boldness? He was hated by an entire army. King Saul was looking to kill him. He had a few men around him that weren't even trustworthy. He had no reason, while in a cave under miserable circumstances and conditions, to say, "My heart is fixed." He knew what his purpose was, he knew what his election was and so he sang to God, "My heart is fixed and I will sing praises."
If someone can say "My heart is stable, I'm not insecure, and I'm going to sing praises," then even if that person was in prison or in debt or whatever, that person has security, NOT in his circumstances, NOT in the things that are happening around him, but he is confident in this one thing: "He that has called me is faithful and He will do it." David knew he was the King of Israel. He was dumped in a miserable cave, chased by an army, but he lifted up his voice and he said, "My heart is steady, my heart is secure, and I WILL sing praise!" And he did it. He sang praise and the result was that he ended up being the King of Israel.
When Are You in Your Element?
When God breathes on somebody and speaks, He places that person in their element, which in turn forces them to seek an environment conducive or favorable for their gift. When God speaks to you and shows you what you are going to do one day, what ultimately happens then is the enemy of your soul tries to create an environment to stifle your creativity. He tries to create a religious environment to stifle your gift so it won't be effective and what that does is it forces you to find and create an environment where you can be most effective.
You have to seek and create an environment where you are in your element, where you are operating at your best, your finest, being your sharpest. You have the ability to create that environment.
I have found that if you can operate your gift, like David did in a cave and like Joseph did in prison, then you've learned to create an environment that brings the best out of you under the most difficult circumstances and one day when things are more favorable, you will perform perfectly. That's what God wants from you. Don't ever think that you are going to be stuck in this rut forever. Start searching and saying, "What do I need to do to be most effective?" and then create the environment that will bring the best out of you. Go!

The Left Wing Temper Tantrum over Tea Parties
Let’s start this off with a question: Do these people (the left and their media bullies) ever take a clear look at themselves or give an honest listen to what they’re saying?
The answer to that, based on their reaction to the nationwide tea parties thrown around the country on April 15th, would have to be a resounding, “NO!” And while saying that it has to be “no” I’m reserving some Polyandrous hope that they’ll one day look around and hear and see how they’re acting and hopefully realize that they’re making absolute blubbering, foul mouthed, temper tantrum throwing fools of themselves.
Oh, I’m not worried that they’re stepping all over their very own dignity like drunken grape stompers in some fifth rate winery by acting like a four year old who isn’t getting his way. I really could not possibly care less about that. They should know better. That’s not why I’m wishing at least some of them would come to their senses.
I’m worried because this country seems to be in the hands of self centered, screaming, heel kicking, purple-faced-with-rage children with Ivy League degrees or the bully pulpits of various media outlets. And that, folks, will lead to nothing but more and more contempt for them from the adults in the room. That would be you and me.
Read the whole thing, and if you are on the left hang your head in shame.
Tea Party Attendance Update - 462,803
Next time I organize a national effort like this as the big man behind the movement I'll do better. HA
The left is looking for someone to blame, might as well be ME!

Good Report from NYC
Liberal photogs:There were quite a number of liberal photographers there. You could pick them out like pepper grains in the salt shaker. They had that whole anti Globalization protester look about them, plus they seemed removed from the event. I did not have to worry about them snapping my picture, because the last thing a liberal would want would be to showcase blacks at a predominately conservative rally.
Just so you are never confused who the opposition really is.
The Woman who just WON'T go away and that torments the left no end. We have not heard the end of Sarah Palin - Thank GOD

By: Dan Weil
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has alienated some Republicans with her substance and style during and after the campaign in which she was John McCain’s running mate.
But one constituency certainly won’t take offense: those who oppose abortion.
Palin is scheduled to attend an anti-abortion banquet in Evansville, Ind. Thursday – the self-proclaimed biggest such event in the country.
The Vanderburgh County Right to Life Banquet expects sold-out attendance of 2,180 at an Evansville civic center, with 600-700 more people in an overflow room.
"For her to go to a place like Indiana speaks volumes about who she is and where her heart is," says Marjorie Dannenfelser, who heads the Susan B. Anthony List, which supports female political candidates who oppose abortion.
"I think it's a good choice for her because it's a reflection of who she is: sort of out of the Beltway," Dannenfelser tells the Anchorage Daily News.
While Palin seemed to relish creating her own public profile apart from McCain during the presidential campaign, this will be her first major public event outside Alaska since the election.
And of course the occasion presents a good chance for Palin to prove her right-wing bona fides well ahead of the 2012 campaign, in which she is expected to be an eager participant.
"While we shouldn't read too much into a single event, it sure looks like she has her eyes set on GOP primary voters," Neil Newhouse, a Republican strategist for Public Opinion Strategies in Alexandria, Va, tells the Daily News.
One thing Palin isn’t doing is flip-flopping on the abortion issue. During her gubernatorial campaign of 2006, Palin said she would oppose abortion for her daughter even if she was raped.
Tally 225,481 and counting
As of this morning's count, the real number is upwards of 225,000. I suspected as much. This was a grass roots action. Of course don't expect to see or hear about any of this on ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, NYT or CNN. They live in a make believe alternate reality. If a tree falls in the forest cut down by a conservative, it didn't fall.
The liberal media is going la la la la la la hoping it will all go away. Liberal blogs are making as small of this as possible. It's a lost cause.
Guess what folks, pretending it isn't so, doesn't make it not so.
I think the most disgusting part of this was the truly off color and snarky filth of Anderson Cooper. Until this week had no idea that the term teabagging had other meanings.
I guess Anderson and his boyfriend would know more about this than I did.

If you want to be encouraged watch this.
OH and just pick one, the most recent is the best.
A few thoughts about yesterday's tea party
The one we had in Geneva was organized by a group of Catholics. Local. Their driving force was the life issue. Abortion. Planned Parenthood. Freedom of Choice Act.
Yet, many, perhaps MOST of the protest was about tax and spend.
This was not advertised. It was not in the paper. It was not posted any where. It just happened. Instant. Viral. Without hype. I heard about it two days before it came off.
SO, at least as far as I'm concerned this was just one of those special moments when people came together and said "WE DO NOT AGREE".
I hope this does not become a big man thing. It's so much more powerful when it's groundswell.

Portraits from the Revolution
I'm proud to have been a part of it all. The people were very nice. Many honks of unity. And no liberals gave me the finger. I'm glad I went. Maybe I was disappointed that there was ONE republican politician who spoke. This was of the people by the people. Even the local talk radio didn't support or endorse any of the tea parties. But, two days ago I got an email from a friend. That was the first I heard of it at all. Got to hold a sign. This was a viral protest. Of course according to CNN and MSNBC this never happened. Yes it did. This proves the vapid integrity of the news media.
I felt good. Did anything happen? I don't know. But I know the hundreds of thousands who came out today want things to change. It was great to feel part of something that matters. Let's not lose this spirit.
Obama promised to bring us all together. He sure did.

Barack Obama is No Joseph
Many are alarmed with the speed and blindness with which our nation is veering toward a leftist, socialist predicament at the hand of President Obama and his willing accomplices in the Congress. It's nothing new, folks. It's actually (like everything else the left has been trying for forty years) a page out of a very old playbook. I refer you to Genesis chapter 47, where we can walk through the process step by step in the situation with ancient Egypt:
And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine. And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house. (Genesis 47:13-14)

AH, now I get it.... We don't understand the pirates of Somalia, they aren't pirates, they're ecologists
It's not about money. They are concerned for the environment. They are Greenpeace with an AK-47.
Why am I not surprised? The environmentalist faction of liberal thinking, doesn't think. You'll hear more of this drivel.

Satan's BIG LIE: “If I just pray enough or live holy enough, I will get closer to God and enter into His presence.”
Read the whole thing:
I will get closer to God and enter into His presence.”
I want to bring your attention to the fact that some of the thoughts that we need to fast from and eliminate from our heads, SEEM LIKE RIGHT THOUGHTS. But they are subtle tricks and lies.
When the devil approached Adam and Eve, in Genesis 3, it says, ‘he was subtle—more than any other creature.' It's these subtle thoughts that defeat us. They seem so godly and so right, but they are not right; because they produce a WORKS mentality and a LEGALISTIC approach to our relationship with God.
I don’t want to create a theological debate, here. But I want to ask you a question: how much closer can God get than to LIVE INSIDE OF YOU?
* 2 Corinthians 13:5 says, "Do you not recognize that Christ Jesus is in you?"
* 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God?”
This is not a warning to be afraid. This is a promise. It is a fact when a person is born again. It is a picture of how there is no separation between us and God. Paul is saying in essence (and I am praying you will receive this with an open heart): “The reason your behavior has been sinful and negative, is because you have lacked the knowledge that HE LIVES IN YOU. When you realize that, it will change how you look at yourself, and it will then change how you live.”
When we think we have to do more to get closer to Him, the focus gets put on us. But Hebrews 12:1 says to “Fix your eyes on Jesus.” When you buy into this thought, you TRY SO HARD TO GET CLOSE TO GOD, and then get discouraged, until you give up or assume that that your relationship with God will always be: Distant. That affects your peace, joy, and of course your confidence in prayer.
This is what I call “an illusion of separation." The devil, and even religion has caused us to think God is afar off. “He’s way up there, and we’re way down here. And if we pray enough, fast enough, do enough, we can close the gap, and get Him to come closer.” That’s a lie. He is the friend that sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24)
Ok gang. This is a thought that we must deal with--NOW!
1. We don’t earn closeness with God. It is a gift. Hebrews 13:5 says “He will never leave you or forsake you.”
2. YOU ARE ALREADY IN HIS PRESENCE BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS. Hebrews 10:19 says, “we enter into the Holy place by the blood of Jesus.”
3. There is no separation between you and God. When you are born again, you are united with Him, and one with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17 says, "The one who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him." In Acts 17:28, he says, ‘In Him we live and move and have our being.’ This is the reality that the early Christians had and lived by. There is no separation. (Yes, sin separated us from God, but Jesus removed sin, and re-connected us to God—there is no separation now.)
4. Stop thinking, “He’s there, and I’m here.” I don’t have to do something to get God into my situation. He is already in it, because I’m in it. “He is at work IN me, to bring about His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13)
5. I will fear no evil. Psalm 23:4 says, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for THOU ART WITH ME!
6. Reject the lie that He is out there somewhere. Reject the lie that your answer or blessing is “out there” somewhere. Mark 4:20 says, 'he who hears the Word and accepts it, will bear fruit.' You have to accept this truth. There is no separation.
THINK IT & SAY IT:
I am not separated from God, anymore. I don’t have to earn closeness with Him. It is a gift. He will never leave me or forsake me.
I am IN HIS PRESENCE and HE IS IN ME. In Him, I live and move and have my being. I live in this reality.
I stop thinking that “He is there, and I am here.” He is in my life and my situation right now. No matter what I walk through, I am not afraid—for God is with me.
I reject the lie that He is out there somewhere. I accept that there is no separation between God and me. Romans 8:38-39 says, "Nothing can separate me from the love of God!"
The Father ALWAYS makes room for his GIFTINGS
I have sometimes felt alone, felt hidden, felt that I was not understood as a prophet.
But in the last month a prophesy spoken over me a year ago, that the covering Cherubs would be removed. Then six months later at the word of another prophet that the Gift God gave me would be revealed in a supernatural way.
I did nothing different. I just continued to bring the word of the Lord every way I knew how.
And, it has happened. I now find myself in places with people I had never thought I would.
Again, please, for their sake and for my own suppression of pride, I will just say, God always makes room for his Gifts. He is in the business of bringing out his Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers. He puts them in place. One up another down.
I had the opportunity to encourage another prophet a week ago. See my post on the Prophet side called Prophets need Prophets. He was feeling like he wasn't being fully used of God. I encouraged him to flow in new places. To swim in different ponds. God would open the doors.
See the Post on Blood Flow.
This is a new day. This is a place where the old is being cast off. We have to learn to flow in him. And as we do, he will open the doors you and I never thought possible.
Evenso. COME LORD!
Gene's Book Club Reccomendation
It is to me the most compelling case for taking our country back from the terminally insane that I have read. I have to say, I agree with him completely, I don’t often find myself in full agreement with him. I thought how he behaved during the GOP primaries to be out of line.
But reading this book has given me hope. I wish my liberal friends and even those who consider me an enemy would read it with an open mind and then, if at all possible, tell me where Levin goes wrong.
I wager it might be hard to do.
In any case, the encouragement is out there.
One last thing, he really has the fiscal, cultural and social issues well in hand. He talks about tax cuts and spending in light of our culture and not in light of putting more money in people’s pockets. This is a language conservatives will have go learn to speak if they want to have a shot in 2010 or 12. The game has changed. Taxes and spending as important as they are lose elections.
Read it, you’ll be glad you did. It’s a little hard to find seeing as how it sells zillions of copies and is Number one on the NYT bestseller list.
In fact, in visiting the local bookstore to buy it I was heartened at how many GOOD conservative books are on the good selling racks.
We may be winning and didn’t know it.

The False Berean Spirit comes AGAINST the Prophetic
As you may know, I’ve had a strong disturbance in my spirit regarding the handling of prophecy and prophetic people. Scripture makes it so very clear that we are all to prophesy and we must not quench the Spirit nor despise prophecies. Yet, it seems that many (most?) are suspicious and even deeply resistant to prophecy today.
Are there issues to contend with? Yes. Is the appropriate reaction to shut it down? No. The ‘false-berean’ spirit that’s invading the church today is doing much damage and we must humbly and boldly deal with it- quickly.
I have a very simple question: If we don’t embrace prophecy, how can we know what God wants for us? Of course, we have the perfect Word of God, the Bible. However, there are also continual, daily, personal and corporate instructions that we must receive via the Rhema Word of God if we are to advance in confidence and obedience. How would Gideon have known how to advance in battle via an extremely bizarre strategy if he hadn’t heard God’s voice? He wouldn’t have. Without God’s instruction for that unique situation, Gideon would have failed. How often does this play out in Christian’s lives today?
I agree with Brother John on this in full. I had not identified it as such, railed rather against the need for reason and intellectualism in the Church that despises the spirit of Prophecy.
Then Kathi Sharp had a dream. It follows with it:
I'm not an interpreter of dreams, but I understand this one. God is saying, you who are rejecting the prophetic in your ministry, in your church, in your life are going to come up short.I felt the knife and the emotion and I said, “Lord, what is this?” I saw an array of faces of various prophetic-type church leaders/ministers (I don’t think that identities matter - they were “prophetic leaders” small and large - you were one, so was I, a few “famous” folks too). These people were obviously and emphatically leaders, but not in any way arrogant. This sense of leadership was godly and called, not forced or coerced. These were people who should have been respected and honored and loved by those they led.
Sneaking around behind them were other people, dressed like roman soldiers (?) and carrying swords. They had shifty eyes. Most of the swords are well-used and have old blood on them. A few are new. They’re not “proper” soldiers - there’s no military bearing about them - it’s more like they’re dressed up AS soldiers, if that makes sense. These people aren’t heresy hunters. These are people within the church, known to the leaders, loved by the leaders.
There were also others standing around. At first they seemed to be on the side of the leaders, but this changed.
The people dressed as soldiers sneak up behind those that prophesy/lead and stab them in the back, looking triumphant as they do so. Sometimes they stab once, sometimes repeatedly. This is a quiet action - not like battle. More like Judas kissing Jesus.
Instantly the perception changes so that I’m seeing things from the soldier’s perspective: obviously the soldiers have banded together and consider themselves to be the “good guys”. The leaders are the “bad guys” and “must” be undermined, taken down, betrayed, or otherwise removed from power. Those standing by shifted from agreeing with the leaders to agreeing with the soldiers. There was a heaviness of deception as those standing around shifted their allegience.
But this attack cannot be done from the front - only from behind. The soldiers did not seem to want to be in power - they just did not want these leaders to be the ones in power. They wanted “better” leaders. This type of control is insidious, akin to raising up a puppet king to rule.
One thing that grabbed my attention is that no one moved to protect the leaders. Like there was approval of what the soldiers were doing, or an unwillingness of anyone to stand and fight or confront them. Apathy? The leaders were left standing, bleeding, alone. No one cared that they were hurt. No one cared that they had been betrayed. No one was willing to risk a confrontation.
The leaders did not fight back.
Another thing that grabbed at me is the fact that many of the swords had obviously been used for this purpose before. And yet these soldiers were still in the position where they were able to stab the leaders in the back. The soldiers didn’t leave the church to find another, they didn’t accept leadership… they simply quietly moved to disable the leadership and replace it with something more to their liking.
My attention keeps being drawn to the sandals the soldiers wore. They were worn and dirty and looked uncomfortable. I’m not sure why but I think they represent the soldiers deliberately walking in unholiness and refusing to change. And for trampling things underfoot.
There’s sawdust or confetti or something of that consistency on the floor, too - these are prophecies that have been given by the leaders and refused by the soldiers, shredded and discarded and despised like so much trash because the soldiers don’t want change, don’t want transformation, don’t want Jesus to invade their quiet peaceful lives and so they shred the prophecies and stab the leaders and do everything they can to maintain the status quo.
I put that in red because there’s something important about the sawdust that I’m missing, or not realizing the importance of, and I’m not sure what. Sandals and sawdust.
Evenso Come Lord Jesus!
A simple fact of History - Jesus
Here is the most inconvenient truth of all. He lived, he died for our sins, and now he rules and reigns.
So when all the pagans are trying to justify their paganism, I like to post a good article to stir them up. This year's is from Grant Jeffrey.
Read the whole thing.Throughout history many people have examined the evidence regarding the life of Jesus of Nazareth. To any unbiased observer who is willing to evaluate it without prejudice, the accumulated evidence regarding the Gospel record is truly overwhelming. As an example, Otto Betz, a respected scholar, stated in his book, What Do We Know About Jesus? that "No serious scholar has ventured to postulate the non-historicity of Jesus."
However, some writers have suggested that there is little historical evidence regarding the life of Jesus. For example, the writer Solomon Zeitlin wrote, "Even Paul's epistles have awakened the question, Does he speak of a real historical personage or of an ideal? The main sources for the historicity of Jesus, therefore, are the Gospels." However, Zeitlin then dismisses the Gospel historical accounts and concluded: "So we are right to assume that even the Gospels have no value as witnesses of the historicity of Jesus. The question therefore remains: Are there any historical proofs that Jesus of Nazareth ever existed?" Another critic Salomon Reinach has contemptuously declared that he refused, "to consider writings founded upon the memory of a collection of illiterates as historical evidence for Jesus." Scholars such as Zeitlin and Reinach also casually dismiss the strong extra-biblical historical evidence from both Pagan and Jewish sources that validates the Gospel accounts about Jesus. The real reason to reject the evidence is that it contradicts the opinion they tenaciously hold that rejects the Bible's accuracy. If liberal scholars applied the same arbitrary standard of rejection of all historical evidence to other ancient historical personages, such as Julius Caesar or Alexander the Great, they would be forced to reject all history as myth.
.....................................................
Socrates taught for 40 years, Plato for 50, Aristotle for 40, and Jesus for only 3. Yet the influence of Christ's 3-year ministry infinitely transcends the impact left by the combined 130 years of teaching from these men who were among the greatest philosophers of all antiquity; yet, some of the finest paintings of Raphael, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci received their inspiration from Him.
Jesus wrote no poetry; but Dante, Milton, and scores of the worlds greatest poets were inspired by Him. Jesus composed no music; still Haydn, Handel, Beethoven, Bach, and Mendelssohn reached their highest perfection of melody in the hymns, symphonies, and oratories they composed in His praise. Every sphere of human greatness has been enriched by this humble Carpenter of Nazareth.

Economic Common Sense we need to Read
Taleb has written an article in today’s FT that outlines Ten principles for a Black Swan-proof world.
1. What is fragile should break early while it is still small. Nothing should ever become too big to fail. Evolution in economic life helps those with the maximum amount of hidden risks – and hence the most fragile – become the biggest.
2. No socialisation of losses and privatisation of gains. Whatever may need to be bailed out should be nationalised; whatever does not need a bail-out should be free, small and risk-bearing. We have managed to combine the worst of capitalism and socialism. In France in the 1980s, the socialists took over the banks. In the US in the 2000s, the banks took over the government. This is surreal.
3. People who were driving a school bus blindfolded (and crashed it) should never be given a new bus. The economics establishment (universities, regulators, central bankers, government officials, various organisations staffed with economists) lost its legitimacy with the failure of the system. It is irresponsible and foolish to put our trust in the ability of such experts to get us out of this mess. Instead, find the smart people whose hands are clean.
4. Do not let someone making an “incentive” bonus manage a nuclear plant – or your financial risks. Odds are he would cut every corner on safety to show “profits” while claiming to be “conservative”. Bonuses do not accommodate the hidden risks of blow-ups. It is the asymmetry of the bonus system that got us here. No incentives without disincentives: capitalism is about rewards and punishments, not just rewards.
5. Counter-balance complexity with simplicity. Complexity from globalisation and highly networked economic life needs to be countered by simplicity in financial products. The complex economy is already a form of leverage: the leverage of efficiency. Such systems survive thanks to slack and redundancy; adding debt produces wild and dangerous gyrations and leaves no room for error. Capitalism cannot avoid fads and bubbles: equity bubbles (as in 2000) have proved to be mild; debt bubbles are vicious.
6. Do not give children sticks of dynamite, even if they come with a warning . Complex derivatives need to be banned because nobody understands them and few are rational enough to know it. Citizens must be protected from themselves, from bankers selling them “hedging” products, and from gullible regulators who listen to economic theorists.
7. Only Ponzi schemes should depend on confidence. Governments should never need to “restore confidence”. Cascading rumours are a product of complex systems. Governments cannot stop the rumours. Simply, we need to be in a position to shrug off rumours, be robust in the face of them.
8. Do not give an addict more drugs if he has withdrawal pains. Using leverage to cure the problems of too much leverage is not homeopathy, it is denial. The debt crisis is not a temporary problem, it is a structural one. We need rehab.
9. Citizens should not depend on financial assets or fallible “expert” advice for their retirement. Economic life should be definancialised. We should learn not to use markets as storehouses of value: they do not harbour the certainties that normal citizens require. Citizens should experience anxiety about their own businesses (which they control), not their investments (which they do not control).
10. Make an omelette with the broken eggs. Finally, this crisis cannot be fixed with makeshift repairs, no more than a boat with a rotten hull can be fixed with ad-hoc patches. We need to rebuild the hull with new (stronger) materials; we will have to remake the system before it does so itself. Let us move voluntarily into Capitalism 2.0 by helping what needs to be broken break on its own, converting debt into equity, marginalising the economics and business school establishments, shutting down the “Nobel” in economics, banning leveraged buyouts, putting bankers where they belong, clawing back the bonuses of those who got us here, and teaching people to navigate a world with fewer certainties.
Then we will see an economic life closer to our biological environment: smaller companies, richer ecology, no leverage. A world in which entrepreneurs, not bankers, take the risks and companies are born and die every day without making the news. In other words, a place more resistant to black swans.
The stop before eternity

I want to know Jesus like this
The Lord is faithful. He comforts his spouse, the Church; he holds us with a firm hand, and leads us up to the way of death.
It is a reality: what happened once is always happening; not always again but always the one same event; not today as then, but then and today. Yesterday we entered Jerusalem with the Lord. We spread out our clothing, our egoistic shells, on his way, and we met him in the bareness of a humbled self…
There is no way back; we are here in the city which he rules, the city in which he will suffer. To enter with him means to suffer with him, to die with him, and finally at the end also to rule with him…This is our comfort; we shall see him again. First Judea and Jerusalem, judgment, death, the tomb. Then Galilee, life and sight: “When I shall have risen you will see me.”
Life hangs on to the issue of death; whoever goes with the Lord to die, goes with him to live and rule; whoever dares to go the way to Jerusalem will not miss the way to Galilee. The law that we must die in obedience to God means that death opens up to life…
It is strange; had we not finally entered Jerusalem for the last time, gone into the city of death? Had not the doors shut behind us? Now, suddenly, again we are in Bethany, the house of near friends, the place of quietness, of loving service; there is a meal, and an anointing. Is there a way back when we have laid our hand on the plough; a way back out of the city where brokers in evil have set a ring around the Lord?

Out My Front Door Last Sunday Morning a week over
It was a mess. I woke up and there was 6" of snow on the ground. Again. We have been buried.
Right outside our front door is one of the first harbingers of spring, the Vernal Witchhazel. Flowers early, fragrant, not showy but nice and delicate. I like this plant. But then I like all plants.
Here is a picture of that beauty, snow and all. Today it's 50 degrees and sunny. Boy does it send off a pretty scent.
Wisdom from David Wilkerson... are your prepared??
PREPARED FOR ANY CRISIS
When a crisis strikes, you don’t have time to build yourself up in prayer and faith. But those who have been with Jesus are always ready.
A couple wrote to our ministry recently in a spirit that revealed they’d been with Jesus. Their 24-year-old daughter had been out with a friend when a madman kidnapped both young women. Then he murdered their daughter in a grisly fashion.
Everyone who knew these parents was astonished at their calmness, but that couple had been prepared for their moment of crisis. They’d known all along that God would never allow anything to happen to them without an underlying purpose. And when the terrible news came, they didn’t fall apart.
In fact, these parents and their surviving children began praying for the killer. The people in their town couldn’t accept it. But the godly couple spoke and taught of God’s ability to provide strength, no matter what they may face. The townspeople recognized their strength as coming only from Jesus. Soon they were saying of the couple, “They’re a miracle. Those are true Jesus people.”
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof” (Psalm 46:1-3).
