"Going over the cliff, flags flying, is still going over the cliff." (Ronald W Reagan)

It's time for the Reagan Republicans to start behaving like Reagan

The Wall Street Journal in several places in Saturday's edition gives a well deserved spanking to the self important giant talking heads on talk radio and the conservative misleaders who have put us in a place where we don't have a candidate any of us loves much.

Surely Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter can agree that these challenges are terribly demanding and cannot be left to luck or divine providence. Finally, there is the cost of their extremist rhetoric to the Republican Party. As President Reagan once told me, "Going over the cliff, flags flying, is still going over the cliff."

On the other side they do. Obama will be the candidate. I didn't think so for a long time until I began to ask myself what it would take for him to lose. He can't.

They have a candidate they believe in and we have one that at best arouses tepid enthusiasm. Shades of Bob Dole.

But, he didn't cheat. McCain. He won fair and square. He needs to finish this deal out with grace and without gloating. The childlike idealism of the right has to come in line. That's what McCain said and guess what, he's right. Get in line.

There is too much at stake. Giving into radical Islam is suicide. There will be several (3 or 4) vacancies on the supreme court. Global failed states with nuclear weapons will mount a new threat that a happy fresh faced liberal will fall on.

So, it's time to get with it.

Pay attention, western civilization is at stake. Your ego isn't that important. The world is. We have to win this thing.

In case the poli Sci C students need a little education, Huckabee and Paul have to stay in this to the end. There must be debates, we must stay in the news. We have to have a forum that gets the message out. Staying in does that.

If they drop out, we drop off any page, particularly the front page. Do the real right thing. Get behind McCain. I hate it, I thought I never would, but it's time to stop Obama.

Clinton is over. She can't.

It's time for the Reagan Republicans to start behaving like Reagan???

You mean like raising taxes, cutting and running, negotiating with terrorist, breaking laws, having associates thrown in jail, granting blanket amnesty, consulting Ouija boards, flip flopping political parties, ignoring heath crisis, give us the biggest deficit of all times (oh wait they have done that already), get involved in illegal gun/cocaine running, tell people that their heart say no but the evidence says yes?

I think there is a better way for modern republicans to behave. Don’t you?

Reagan was not Reaganesque.

Nice try though and your point about staying on the front page is right on. If Clinton and Obama keep going until the convention…there will not be any new “news” for the gop nominee to make at all. Good point, Gene.

This one was great too, didn’t know Reagan said it: "Going over the cliff, flags flying, is still going over the cliff." Like the actor he was, he really could deliver a great one liner.

It would be GREAT to see (not in fact only rhetorically of course) the neo-gop talking heads going out Thelma and Louise style waving flags and denouncing everything and everybody except for the narrow slice of wingnut pie that made them rich. Boy that talk radio racket has become the poison pill of polarizing politics, huh? (Alliteration much?)

Anyway, how ya doing?

We are having a mini heat wave out here. LOVIN IT! (oh, sorry)

What’s the deal with the guy neo-cons love to love endorsing the guy neo-cons love to hate?

Fred hearts McCain?

Want some whiskey in your water?
Sugar in your tea?
Whats all these crazy questions theyre askin me?
This is the craziest party that could ever be
Don’t turn on the lights cause I don’t wanna see

Well I’m off to SA to work my magic. LOL
Then out for a hike.

Take care

Go, Mike, Go!

Gene is right! We do not want to go back to what the democrats stand for! Get you grip together conservatives! John Kennedy is the only democrat in a long time that I recall being a half decent democrat President. Because of someone shooting him, there was not enough time to really tell! The Clinton's brought a lot of shame and corruption to the white house! The way they allowed their staff to leave the offices was shameful. I am not sure Abama will not do the same. There is already one he is associated with on the chopping block and in legal trouble. I am sure McCain is a man of honor! I like that he questions when he does not agree. Higher taxes and bigger government are not an option I want to go with! Just pulling out of Iraq with no plan in place is not an option. I do not wish to have the terror that is there, over here. Let's keep it 'over there' boys. 9/11 was enough.
The low and middle incomes cannot with stand anymore! Everything goes up every year except their wages...and they work darn hard for them! I would have preferred Mike. If John McCain is the candidate, he will have my vote. I am an independent. I have voted democrat before. There are not many good men / women left in Washington. I do believe Senator McCain is the one of the few. We need to put God back at the helm of our government like George Washington did! Taking Him out was never acceptable. If you feel a passion to stand up for something, try standing up for God. It is His absence causing all the chaos.
