Not much was made of it other than as a way to offend and irritate liberals.
Now a Psychiatrist from Chicago has taken up the cause. He has written a book that says that Liberals are trapped in political madness. I have struggled with this idea. I have friends who in all other ways appear to be rational human beings but then they cross over into the political madness of liberalism they seem to lose all capacity for rational thought or clear analysis.
How does such mass deception and psychosis come about? I'm puzzled.
This Psychiatrist tries to explain it:
"Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."I'm not saying all Liberalism is a mental disorder, but self examination would be a good thing.
.............................."A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do."
Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
- creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
- satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
- augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
- rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.
"The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

Just wanted to waste your time
Dr. Lyle Rossiter, a very good friend of mine, wrote this book well over 2 years ago. It was published in 2006. It's now almost 2009. Your mention that "now a Chicago psychiatrist" wrote a book on liberalism is a mental disorder, is quite a bit late, don't you think?? The book has been out for a while now, and his friends, colleagues and fellow conservatives have known about his book for over 2 years. Especially those who live in the Fox Valley, as you do. You should amend your blog statement to read "I only just found this book."
Signed, A Concerned Conservative.
Anon,
You just said it. I was not aware of this book until there was publicity on it in world net daily.
I thought it was new.
Thanks for the correction.
