The TRUTH about the Cash to IRAN deal

The money sent to IRAN was their money from an old arms deal gone bad from before the revolution in the 70s. YES they did hold back returning the hostages to make sure they got their money first. Looks like ransom to most people. Inside Iran they probably think of it as ransom.

Wise? Hard to say. But owed, yes. Not an issue with much staying power. Another diversion. Focus on the Clinton Crime Family and the lies she tells. You’ll get a lot farther.

The payment is the settlement of a decades-old dispute over returning Iranian funds from a weapons purchase placed by the government of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi before he was ousted by the Mullahs.

Delivery of the payment in foreign currency was logical because U.S. sanctions prohibit deals with Iran using dollars and the U.S. has no banking relationship with the country. "The only bit of news that is relevant on this is the fact that we paid cash," Obama said. Restrictions on U.S. banking relationships with Iran mean "we could not send them a check, and we could not wire them the money."
