Fame and Fortune are Hard Work

This is about the blogosphere and dancing with the stars.

I confess, Peggy and I watched dancing with the stars and enjoyed it very much.  There's another program called Ballroom Bootcamp that is a type of this show.

Guilty pleasure.

BUT, here is one truth that comes out of these shows.  He or she who wants it most and will put in the work wins.  That's how Marie Osmond stayed to almost the bitter end.   Work and determination.

People with less of a work ethic fell off early.  That's not entirely true.  The young blond from some girl group was good and worked hard but she was eliminated.

The two that finished and the one that won were determined and dogged and dedicated and just wanted it more.  That counts for a great deal.

This truth is universal.  If you are a produce manager, pastor, physician, peapicker, Pepperidge farm guy, peanut farmer, post hole digger or pallet maker, how much you want to win, are focused and will work for it is directly related to how the outcome will be.  Universal truth.

When someone says, "I have worked as hard as I can an it just doesn't come out" the question I have to ask is, are you willing to keep working?  Play till you win.  Most games are lost because the other side quits.  When a football team comes back from certain loss with only 3 minutes left (Northwestern Wildcats) it has much to do with playing till you win.

The same is the blogosphere.  I have a neat gadget I recommend to everyone.  Tom Collins gave me a look see at GOOGLE READER.  Go to Google and type it in.  I have fiddled with it.  It really works.

But, here is the truth that comes of it.  I am watching about 25 blogsites.  Mostly people I know or are familiar with.  You would be astounded at how few new posts most people make each day, week, month.  Blogging is hard work.  Even if you like it.  It means every day.  Of the 25 blogs only 10 blog at least once a week and only 5 of those blog every day.

There are 50 million blogs. Most are dormant.  Inert.

People get discouraged.  You get read because you have something to read.

Giving up at the 2 minute warning, giving up because it's work.

The 80-20 rule applies in the blogosphere.  80% of every blog that exists could just as well not as far as content dynamics is concerned.  That means if there are 50 million blogs out there today, only 10 million are active.  That's still a lot of blogs.

Only those who keep on blogging will arrive anywhere.
