As the Smoke all Clears on Sarah Palin

I've been flooded for the past few days with queries about dubious Internet postings and mass e-mail messages making claims about McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin. We find that many are completely false, or misleading.

Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she increased funding and signed a bill that will triple per-pupil funding over three years for special needs students with high-cost requirements.

She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a “What if?” question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin’s first term.

She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.

Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a “courtesy” when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.

Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska’s schools. She has said that students should be allowed to “debate both sides” of the evolution question, but she also said creationism “doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”

It's just a good time to clear the air. I just did. Of course I know full well that some folks hate to admit they are wrong and just will continue to slime her. Just doing my part at Palin for President Headquarters.

No comment on the Palin controversy, but in response to your invitation for my take on what you said in a previous blog, namely: "Every human from the time of conception everyone's name is written in the Book of Life",and your challenge to
"anyone who finds a verse that refutes the premise that our names are in the book of life from conception" ----- well, I don't find anything that speaks of conception putting you in the book of life, off hand. The Bible has references to'conception', a person great with child, a person "with child", John the Baptist in the
womb of Elizabeth who jumped upon Mary's coming to her. Are you "inferring" something that you find in the Scripture about the Book of Life? Of course there is the teaching of what is called "eternal election:, especially in Ephesians 1, verses 3 through 14. There Paul is telling the Ephesians that they are blessed because they were chosen IN CHRIST before the foundation of the world..God did not just begin to think of them in time when the message of the Gospel came to them, but from all eternity they were chosen IN CHRIST...note how many times it says "IN CHRIST, "IN HIM" in that chapter. Thereis a lot of differing teachings (opinions?) about election, but one thing is sure, God does not have an election unto damnation (some will challenge on this). Election is a comfort for the believer in Christ . The Bible, I don't think, has any inferences to a fertilized egg being written in the Book of Life. Yes, it is human, but the Bible makes it clear that all are born dead in trespasses and sin, for 'that which is born of the flesh (sinful nature) is flesh (sinful nature)". The clear teaching is that every human is of a sinful nature, and msut be "born from above", and that through God's means. "the whole world is held accountable to God", but "Christ died for the ungodly" and "while we were yet sinners Christ died for us"...that includes everyone born of woman (except for Jesus). rather than any teaching inferring that everyone conceived is in the book of life, the Bible makes much clearer the truth that all who are conceived humans are born spiritually dead, inert, lost, hopeless. I haven't really done a thorough search about the book of life, but I do remember that in Rev. there is a word about 'everyone whose name has NOT been written in the book of life..." I'm just rambling on here, and not doing much research about this. It seems that some names are not written in the book of life (is that non-election?) (but there is not a non-election, is there?) Anyway, I am glad that my name is written in the book of life, the name of one who by the grace and power of the Spirit has been made whole and God's own by the doing and dying of Jesus. And like Jesus said to disciples, "rejoice, not that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven"! I think you too rejoice in that, Gene..... blessings.....harold

Harold,

I have moved my more "Controversial" theological discussions to the Prophet's Blog. You can go to it by the link at the left of the link I have inserted.

In deference to people who may not be ready and willing to wrestle as you and I love to over truth of the Word of God.

So, to answer you in fullness regarding Book of Life and Original Sin, I have posted it here.  Please feel free to comment.  I'm not certain you will be persuaded, I am certain you will feel challenged to what has been long standing beliefs that I think may be in error in many denominations.
