The Spanish Inquisition in America

My son Kevin worked for Larry Summers when he worked at Harvard. He tells me he, Summers, was a nice man. He was the President of Harvard.

Until he said that women's math abilities were less than men's.

Then the perpetually appalled PC left wing has blackballed him. Kind of like a left wing Joe McCarthyism. I have a message:
Let's not give in to the "chronically appalled."

I get comments like the one I just got about the unemployment in IRAQ. Chronically appalled. This is not only tiresome, it's no longer even relevant. I had no intended reference to middle eastern people who work in 7-11's. It's just that C-Stores are the refuge for the unemployed. Chronically appalled.

This is a good article and worth the read. Larry Summers deserves better. And I'm defending a Clinton guy here. Who knows he might even like Al Gore and Jimmy Carter. Even if he did (and I'm not sure about that) he doesn't deserve the treatment he is getting from the academic Nazis who are blackballing him.

This is the edge of Evil.

Don't you ever tire of the exagerations? As if not being invited to speak is the same as torture and death of the Inq? As if you being called racist or sexist by commenters had some similarity or relationship. oh. poor. thing. being asked to be responsible and not perpertuate stereotypes is not really THAT much of a hardship for you, is it?

I will explain it to you one more time. There may be differences between the genders in brain structure. But there will always be huge overlap in abilities. (And the differences may even lead to breakthroughs when an area always thought about in a certain way is thought of in a new way.) The broad spectrum of individual differences WITHIN a gender, while skewed to one end of the total spectrum, will always be 'more different' than the difference BETWEEN genders. So it is utterly WRONG to discriminate against a person based on gender.

Let me show you the concept this way.
FMFFMFFFFMFMMFFFMMMFFMFMMMMFMMFM

There are more Fs on the left and more Ms on the left. Fs can be said to be more 'left' and Ms can be said to be 'more right'. Yes. But clearly there are many of each on both sides. Would you say that there are M and F JOBS based on that distribution, or that there are both Ms and Fs that can do all jobs? Would you even say that Ms are 'better' at 'right' jobs? What about those Fs way out there to the right end? They would do the 'right' job BETTER than MANY of the Ms.

It is fine to study and discuss differences. There are differences. That is science. But part of science is to understand the nature of thos differences and the distrubution within the populations of those differences. To understand the real world relevance of the differences.

It is not right to use those differences to hold one group of people down or to limit their opportunities.

Do you understand the difference?
