This is Wrong

I'm not a fan of ISLAM.

But this decision is wrong. If a Jewish boy wore a Yamika would that be OK? Or if my relatives who are pretty fundamentalist were to insist on wearing long sleves and pants, not shorts, is that OK?

Tolerance has to go all the way round unless it limits others.

This is a lack of tolerance.
